Bought a brand new G-Dec 3 last Thursday and everything is working great except for when I am attempting to use it with my computers. It is not recognized in Windows 7 on my quad core 2.4GHz 4gb RAM 500GB Hard Drive or on my MacBook Pro Dual 2.4GHz 2GB RAM 160GB Hard Drive running OS X 10.6.8

I have downloaded Fender Fuse 2.4.0 and have installed it on each system with the same results. My Windows machine gives an error message "USB Device Not Recognized" and goes on stating it has detected the hardware but it has malfunctioned. It is not accessible as an audio device at all. I have attempted to uninstall and re-install multiple times.

The same goes for my MacBook Pro system except there is no error message of any sort.

The firmware currently on the G-Dec is 1.03 and I am not able to upgrade it as it is not recognized by the computers.

I have attempted using different USB ports on both computer systems with the same result. I have seen other people experiencing the same issue and have followed all of the steps provided such as update the software, restart the amp etc to no avail. I have tested with a different verified working USB cable that worked with my old camera and have the same issue.

Need some guidance here as I have spent many hours attempting to fix this on my own.

Your help is appreciated.

Have you tried installing the Fender Universal ASIO driver for Windows 7?

Hey RPMcKenna,

If you're amp isn't being recognized by multiple computers, you may be experiencing a hardware issue.

Does the amp appear as an input or output device in the Sound System Prefs pane on your Mac or in the Sound Control Panel in Win 7?

Hey guys,

Thanks for the suggestions. Tried everything including the ASIO driver. No other devices showing up anywhere.

I am an IT technician/specialist for the past 16 years and have pretty much performed every step I can think of.

I have also contacted Fender Customer Relations as suggested in the firmware upgrade page if issues still persist and explained the situation with no response.

Same issue with multiple systems and operating systems.

How should I proceed from here?

The fact that it is failing on multiple systems to me indicates a hardware issue as Loren suggested.

I would take it back to the store you got it from and exchange it for another one.

Made my way to Long & McQuade here in Scarboorugh/Toronto today and brought my MacBook with me along with the questionable G-Dec 3. Tested another G-Dec 3 amp with the MacBook while I was there and it worked without issue. Long & McQuade did a straight swap of the G-Dec without any questions.

Pleased with the new setup and will finally be able to start using the unit to it's full potential.

Just as a side note the Original G-Dec 3 that I had purchased would also not allow me to save any of the customized effects and error message on the front panel stated the memory was locked. Using either the SD Memory Card or stock did not make any difference.

Will update later to let everyone know if the new replacement G-Dec 3 is working or not.

Thanks for all of the input.

Just an update. Everything is working perfect on both the MacBook and PC. Have not had a lot of time spent using it but what I have tested so far works.

Got a great deal on it as well for $199+ tax vs. the regular price of $309+ tax.
