I have a G-DEC Junior & my buddy & I would use the drums without the instrument backing when playing together. I found a great deal on a G-DEC 3, bought it & wonder if I am over my head a bit. As I go through the presets and look at the instructions, I don't see a way to turn the instrument backing off. Did I miss that or is that not an option? Also, the Junior had a four beat lead in when the backings were played. Does the G-DEC 3 have this?

Thanks

I have the Blues edition installed right now and if you turn the knob, there are quite a few band tracks that feature only drums, no music. I don' know which edition you have but there might be drum tracks if you find them on the list.

As for the count-in, I thought I saw something about it, but I can't find it now.

Good luck and have fun!

You made the right decision going from the Jr to the full-on G-DEC 3.

Hi TonyMan,

The new Fender G-DEC 3 series amps feature playback of audio files including wav and mp3. As these are audio files, they don't function quite the same way that the MIDI files did on the older series of Fender G-DEC amps (i.e. they are stereo mixes and the drums cannot be soloed/muted). With that said, you could, if you wanted to, load the MIDI files from your (or your buddy's) older Fender G-DEC amp as the current Fender G-DEC 3 amps support MIDI files as well. If you would like some assistance with that, please contact us directly.

Best Regards,

Hi Alan, you know I kinda wondered about the format realizing that with MIDI you can mute different instruments. I believe I can figure out how to off load the ones from the Jr, but then I'm just back to the ones from there. I just figured I'd be able to do the same with this and get a lot more drum patterns to try. It seems like this has a lot of capabilities, but not really what I was looking for. We basically wanted the drum backings and I just assumed that with all the new stuff that would still be an option. And I don't understand why there is no lead count. I don't get the idea of pushing a button, the song starts, and I am somehow supposed to have a guitar in my hand playing at the same time. I can't see spending more money on a pedal to keep my hands free, but then still no count. I'm not the kind of person who is going to try to go through the files & play along with them and learn how to use the effects and everything else. It's a helluva device, but just somewhat overblown for for I was looking for. I guess it's best I just take it back.

Thanks for the help

Hi TonyMan,

As with audio files (wav & mp3), you can find lots of different MIDI files online. So you would not really be stuck with old or existing files either way. Its more a matter of which format works more effectively for you, MIDI or audio. Please let me know if I can assist further.
