(beginner with about 9months with teacher)

i'm ready to upgrade from my mustang-1 to a GDEC & learn/practice with jam tracks and improve timing.

i read on the forum topics here that the GDEC-30 is more flexible than the GDEC-15.

would someone expand on the "flexible" aspect? if this extra flexibility justifies the cost, i could squeeze me savings a bit more for the extra bang for the long run.

The G-DEC 30 has, on the back, a pair of line outs. By having these, it allows for an easy connection to a mixing board, for example.

As far as other differences between the 30 and the 15 (two speakers vs one, 30w vs 15w) I don't interpret those as a flexibility issue.

Good luck, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice! (I'm a 15 owner, myself) (and btw, just for my own ears, I've used the headphone jack as a line out to connect to my MacBook Pro and GarageBand) (Not that you should do it, it's just that you can do it. ;)

I've owned both, and regarding flexibility, other than the 15 watt being lighter and a bit easier to lug around and the 30 watt having the line outs, they both do the same thing and handle the same hardware and software like Fuse, Amplitube, Ableton, and the footswitch.

I don't know if anyone found this to be a problem, but I did knock over my 15 watt version once because it is a bit narrower than the 30 watt. Being thicker and heavier, the 30 watt will probably not get kicked over as easily.

That said, I like the tone of the 30 watt more. This is probably due to the 10" vs 8" speaker and the addition of the tweeter. Plus it goes dang loud, though the 15 watt is plenty for home use.

Worth it? Yes, I think so, especially since the price of the 30 watt is coming down to the $299 range if you look around.

I printed out a shopping cart from SamAsh.com and Amazon.com and took it with me. Both offer free shipping and the 30 watt amp at those places costs $299.

GC was completely happy to help me. They had no problem reducing the price by $100.

And, BTW, they had it on sale for $279 over Labor Day weekend so its not like we're asking something unprecedented.

Good luck!

GC was very helpful today. i was going to get the mustang III but my guitar teacher was there and he ran down a quick comparison. he made some good points regarding tempo and key adjustments that i can do on the 30w that will be good for my practice and learning curve.

i left with the G-DEC3 30w

got a little practice/noodle time in already and i'm pleased. and GC did honor the same price 299.00 that other sites were selling it for. Good experience at GC happy to say.

thanks for all the comments to help
