Hi. I read from a thread a few months ago that it was not possible to "pause" a playback. Rather, you hit the start/stop button and it starts from the beginning.

At this time, is it possible to pause playback yet?

Thanks.

Just for the thrill of it and out of curiosity, say, what would lead that to or make possible that is, if there were such a button ... i mean hwo would you use it in practice then?
Fond regards, ...

Sure - it would come in handy when I'm trying to learn a part of a song. For instance, I have the Jimi Hendrix and SRV G-DEC tab books. They come with an SD card with all the presets and backup music for the whole song. So as I'm learning a riff, it would be handy to stop the music, practice it, and then resume. The way it is now, its like a stop button, it just starts you back from the beginning, then you have to listen all the way through the song to the point where you left off.

On another SD card I have songs in general, like off my mp3 player, and the same thing applies when playing along. It would be handy to pause and play from the same spot rather than stop and begin again from the beginning and have to listen through the whole song again to the part I was practicing.

In fact, it would be cool if the soft-keys could be programed to do the regular functions of audio playback, play, pause, fast forward, and rewind for this purpose.

Of course, I could use an external player and the aux-in plug to do the music controlling, but that just defeats the purpose of all technology within the G-DEC.

Try this...play the part you want to practice and record just the section you want to work on using the phrase record feature. You can also save the phrase for use another time and access it thru Quick Access mode.

Oh, I see! You got a point there, yes. Well, so far I've only experienced lesson material that already came in good and sensible portions already. So I only needed to copy those converted loops to the SD card and load them to G-Dec. For instance there is a great book along with CD available for step-by-step Creedence Clearwater Revival lessons ...

If I wanted to play that Hendrix stuff and found the tracks too inconvenient in their length, I'd probably load them into my Cubase and cut them into more favorable/loop-able portions myself ... and then put those back on ... maybe it does for you too meanwhile ...

Thanks for the suggestions!

I have Cubase, so I may look into that, but the idea for using the phrase looper sounds very easy and doable. Good idea!

Thanks again.

This is one of the ways I'm using the amp. I play on a church band and they send us the charts and Youtube links during the week. While listening to the song, I'll record the intro or lead part to practice off of and learn. Sometimes I'll save the phrase to the sd card for future reference. It's hard to get a perfect looping effect without using the Ableton software (haven't had the time or patience to install and deal with the learning curve)

Unfortunately, a pause feature doesn't exist on the G-DEC 3. However, using the phrase sampler is a great alternative.
