Love my new amp. I'm learning bit by bit all the things it can do.

As far as playing, I've mostly been noodling, which is a ton of fun.

But what is the best way to practice to improve my playing? I wish there were a book that said, "this track is best accompanied by the Pentatonic scale" or some such with charts showing the best scale shapes on the neck for that particular track.

Does that make sense?

How do you utilize your G-DEC as an improvement tool? I've got to think there's more to it than noodling.

Thanks!

Walter

However you want.

I used it both as a "straight amp" and to practice lead and rhythm guitar, with both the backing band and the metronome tracks.

There's no right or wrong way. Just have fun.

I often use the phrase sampler to practice with instead of the band tracks. Pick a key, pick chord progression you like in that key, come up with a rhythm you like, record it, loop it, and start playing over it. You'll instantly hear which notes sound good, and which are clinkers. You can also record a nice strummy sounding thing with open chords, loop it, and then play over it with triads in the same key. That usually sounds good and will teach you to follow the chord changes.
