I just received this in the mail and gave it a go. Thought you folks might be interested in my thoughts.

Tracks included:
Badge
Bell Bottom Blues
Change The World
Cocaine
Key To The Highway
Lay Down Sally
White Room
Wonderful Tonight

The book:
Pretty basic. The primary lead part is in tab and generally the chord part through verses. No extra parts are tabbed. So the excellent little background licks that Eric is so great at aren't covered here. I would have liked to have seen at least 2 parts but it is what it is. There is also nothing here but standard tab (along with standard notation). No performance notes, discussions of technique etc. The inside of the front cover has a short explanation of how to use the SD card and there is a one page explanation of the tab.

Overall this gets the primary job done, but these are not comprehensive transcriptions of these songs. With that being said, what is here is well laid out and accurate.

The backing tracks:
Each track comes in two flavors. Demo and Play Along and they're pretty self explanatory. The tracks are accurate and well recorded. There is a lead in click track on the play alongs. Overall, it's pretty much exactly what one would expect and well done.

The Presets:
Haven't had a chance to try them yet.

The SD card works fine with out a G-Dec. The tracks are .wav files and will work on pretty much any computer.

I'd give this a solid B. It is as described but would have been better if the tablature was fleshed out a bit more.

Greg

Thanks for the review. I've been wondering about those books. Should I get SRV or Eric Clapton?

Ordered the Jimi Hendrix edition today. Will report when it arrives next week. Always wanted to play Red House.

Broke down and got the SRV edition at GC today. The Jimi Hendrix edition will be here Tuesday from Amazon. I think its pretty pricey at $30. The Jimi one from Amazon was more along the lines of $22 so I threw in a set of strings to get free super save shipping. I had some store credit at GC so decided to spend it on the SRV edition.

The SD card included is a 1gb card with about 750 megs filled. I copied it to my hard drive in case I have a slip of the fingers on my G-DEC and delete it by mistake.

Unlike the Clapton edition the OP bought, I don't see these tabs as being dumbed down at all. I haven't looked for solos and things like that, but the songs seem pretty accurate and will be difficult for me.

Its great to have both the with guitar and without guitar versions to listen to. I tried "The Sky is Crying" but had to play with the guitar track to guide me. When I'm ready it will be nice to try it solo.

Presets seem accurate.

I'm going to enjoy this and I'm happy they are coming out with these books. I hope they do some blues.
