Just wondering if I am doing something wrong or if the phrase recording of the G-DEC, which I have heard referred to as a looper, simply isn't a looper. I cannot get anything recorded and have it loop seamlessly; there is always a pause as the phrase loops. The pause appears to come from the small gap at the beginning of the recording, i.e. the time between pressing record and actually playing, and another slight delay or latency as the phrase ends (the delay in looping seems longer than the small delay before playback begins the first time making me think there is a delay at the end as well.)

So a looper that cannot record/playback without gaps isn't really a looper and maybe the phrase recorder isn't meant for that, but I thought it was and was one of the reasons I bought the amp. Is there a way to record phrases and have them loop seamlessly or do I need to export and edit the phrase or use a traditional loop pedal instead?

Hey JN99,

The best way to record seamless loops on the G-DEC 3 is to use the ULT-4 footswitch. That way you can eliminate the silence before and after the phrase.

Hi,
Another way to do it is to turn the GDec 3 into a usb drive (via the utility function) and then use your computer to import the phrase (in the phrase folder of the GDec 3) into a sound editing program - Goldwave, for example - where it can be edited and the modified version saved. Just remember to leave the file name the same.
cheers, Alex

That's also a great alternative. Thanks Alex.
