I have a GDEC 15. I pretty much just play the settings as is but change keys and drum tempo. I notice a setting for "noise gate" or "sound gate" I forget which. What does that do?

What does compressor do?

I really don't know to much about this stuff.

Thanks in advance!

The noise gate simply limits the amount of background hum and fizz from the effects. The higher the noise gate the less hum and fizz. But, the higher the noise gate, the less "bright" the sound.
Compression makes every note the same volume. Nice in that it punches up all of the sound, but prevents softly struck notes.
