I've got two of the G-DEC 3-Thirty amps and was very happy when Fender released the new Country, Blues and Metal versions of the presets and backing tracks. I converted one of my original 3-Thirty amps to Country and the other to Blues. The Blues Version wasn't too bad, had a fairly good selection of "new" backing bands and it didn't take too much work for me to add twenty additional backing band tracks of my own to make my Blues Version pretty sweet.

Then I turned my attention to the Country Version. Wow! What a let down, especially in the band tracks department! There were only a very few new band tracks, most were simply pulled from the band track selection of the original amp's band tracks and I think all of them are used multiple times on the Country Version. You've got worthless "country" band tracks like Willy Porter Stink, Leroy Miller K Rock, D Drive, Swing It Fast and JP Rock Thang to name a few. It's just a pretty sad Country Version that seems like it must have been rushed to get it out and never got the effort it deserved.

Sorry, Fender. God knows I love Fender products or I wouldn't have so many in my Music Room, but it's going to take a LOT of work to get the Country Version truly countrified. I just went through all of the Country presets again and had to get this off my chest. Thanks.

That is disheartening...just ordered one and it's due here tomorrow. Infact, this is my first post as a new member. I've just been surfing the posts in anticipation of the learning curve. I'll render a newbie opinion in a few days.

Hey Tone!

Well, at least you'll get the tooled leather look, but as far as the band tracks, it's a yowser. I'd be prepared to try to find some additional stuff you can load in there yourself. The re-used band tracks from the original is bad enough, but all the repeats of the band tracks shows me there wasn't much thought put into this version.

You'll still have fun with it and 15 out of 100 isn't too bad. Wait, yes it is.

Good luck!

CRGuitarMan, are you a regular country player? I'm not and I've found the country tracks on the standard GDEC3 particularly good to get me into that style.

I guess they may repeat a bit on the full country version, but then country music does feature the same common styles between tracks. Apologies to country music fans ;-)

Hey duncane!

I've played quite a lot of country in my time - I'm old. Had an all-country band in Minnesota for about five years called CrossRoads. My partner and I still do a fair amount of country when we are performing now.

My gripe isn't the country stuff that's on the Country Version - it's that at least 50% of the band tracks are straight from the original 3-Thirty and the other 50% is repeated two or even three times. If you're going to buy a Country Version, it should be better equipped for that genre. Just chaps me, that's all.

I'm with Dennis...and I really don't understand who chose the genre on some of these???

As to Duncane's comment regarding country melodies being so similar. No offense taken, but...you admitted you aren't a regular country player so I assume you may not be a regular listener? Try a waltz from Earnst Tubb, then a swing from Bob Wills and then roll into an early Travis Tritt tune like "Put Some Drive in Your Country". If you don't find a HUGE variety there I'm a monkey's uncle. :D

Didn't mention a ton of stuff in between.

Happy pickin' fellas,

Dan

And in my earlier ranting, I failed to mention one other thing... or should I say 27 other things!

What's with 27 (yes - twenty-seven) of the band presets being nothing but drum rhythms??? Come on, already.

Someone was really feeling uninspired when they loaded the Country Version.
