I just got my G DEC 3 Blues amp. Is there a website/link or other way to find out the chord progressions of each loop & key recommended to play leads with? It would be helpful to know so I am not hunting & picking my way thru. The main reason I was attracted to this type amp is the ability to practive my leads/scales.

Thanks in advance!

So far this is all I have found, link below. I was hoping to find more info considering a lot of the songs/loops do not mention the key & I was hoping to find the chord progressions.

zland, many of the tracks include the key in the title. When they don't, I see that as part of the fun. I simply play with bass notes on the sixth and fifth strings until I find the sounds that are congruent or "in key."

Your best bet is to start with A, E or D. Some jazz tracks are in F.

Hope that helps.

I agree that this is one of the most irritating "improvements" from the original G-Dec to the G-Dec 3! It makes no sense at all! It's not just knowing what key it's in but the ability to change keys that's missing. The G-Dec was such a great teaching tool because it was so easy to change keys and BPM's. You could get a 5-minute timer and start one of the tracks and play in each and every key for 5 minutes and you got a heckuva music lesson! I'm glad I kept my "old"
G-Dec. This new one has problems.

How big a deal is that, really? If you play in the "wrong" key, it's not the end of the world. This may come as a shock, but it's part of learning the instrument. I can't tell you how many times I've jammed with friends, thinking I was in one key, while the bass player or second guitarist actually had another key in mind -- and it worked just fine.

Part of playing guitar is, in the words of Eddie Van Halen, "falling down the stairs and landing on your feet."

Figuring out the keys is part of the fun. You don't need to anchor yourself to the same pentatonic scale every time. And it isn't that hard.

What do you want the G-Dec to do? Change your strings, too?

It is an improvement since the original couldn't use .wav or .mp3 tracks, only midi. The G-Dec 3 can use both!

You can still change keys (and tempo) like you could on the original. Just download all the midi files (that are on the original G-Dec) from the Fender website and load them onto your SD card and plug 'em in to the G-Dec 3. Instead of showing you what key it is, there's numbers. (0, +1, +2, etc) 0 is E on all the midi files and each number is a 1/2 step interval, so +3 is G, +5 is A and so on. I use them all the time on my new G-Dec 3 Country Version.

The pitch change and tempo functions don't work so well for the .wav & .mp3 file backing tracks, but nothing's changed as far as using midi backing tracks. So I'd say as far as the new one goes, this is not one of it's "problems".

Great answer, Greg

zland - Unfortunately, we don't have a Performance notes sheet available for the Special Edition amps just yet. However, you may want to consider sending an email that I can forward to the people here that can make such a thing happen.
