I live in the USA but plan to move to the Philippines. I want to purchase a G Dec but since the Philippines uses 220 volts at 60 Hz, I do not know if G Dec, like computers can run on both 110v & 220v.

Many people that move there use devices that convert 110v to 220v & that might be an option.

I prefer to buy it here & use it this year on 110v & then be able to move to the Philippines & use 220v. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Don't think so: At least in the owner's manual of my German (230V) model, the tech specs mention different part numbers for the amp (and different fuses for 100/110/120V vs. 220V/230V/240V variants):

  • 2354500000 (120V, 60Hz)
  • 2354501900 (110V, 60Hz) TW
  • 2354503900 (240V, 50Hz) AUS
  • 2354504900 (230V, 50Hz) GB
  • 2354505900 (220V, 50Hz) ARG
  • 2354506900 (230V, 50Hz) EUR
  • 2354507900 (100V, 50/60Hz) JPN
  • 2354509900 (220V, 60Hz) ROK

What you need is a Step-Down Transfomer to convert 220v to 110v. When I was in the Air Force stationed in England we had to use them on all our electronics. You should be able to pick one up fairly easy.

Using a Step-Down Transfomer is what a lot of guys use for all the other things they bring from the USA from blenders to stereo equipment. I was hoping the G DEC was a 110/220 compatable device like a PC but I guess no luck in that happening.

For those that care to know, I spoke to a Fender tech. He suggested I buy the 110v unit, use it here in the states this year. When I get ready to move overseas, I can install a 220v transformer. The part cost about $25 & a local fender repair shop said it would cost about $50 to install.
