Thanks Jeff!

I was able to get things to work by reformatting the card I had. I appreciate your reply.

Is there any way to do this using the USB cable and bypassing the SD card? I don't have a SD reader for my computer.

Thanks!!

Sure. You can use the USB drive mode located in the Utility menu on the amp. That will make the internal memory of the amp and SD card available to your computer, similar to a USB flash drive. However, the internal memory is full so you'll have to delete every Band Track located in the audio folder on the internal memory.

To be honest, that's kind of a pain. You'll be a lot better off with a $10 USB SD card reader.

I have been trying to change over from the Country FSR content to the Blues FSR in my new G-DEC 3 30, No go. Tried 2 brand new sd cards, both Sandisk one is 8gb sdhc and 16gb hdsc. I then tried just loading the .img and the .bin files and "not" the .upd file. Worked like a charm. I already had the latest update.

I thought I'd add a bit of info in case it helps someone else. When using a Sandisk 8GB SDHC card the change over from normal edition to blues edition went straight to the firmware update. I reformatted it using the amp, put the files on, same result. Ditto formatting it with my computer. I took an older 1GB Sandisk card, formatted it with the amp, put the files on and it's updating just fine now. It seems that the solution is to simply try another card which you first format using the amp. I've had no other problems with the 8GB card so can't comment on the nature of the problem.

Hope that's useful.

Anthony

I have tried to load the Blues set half a dozen times at least now, and every time the result is the same: I have all the original G-DEC 3 patches still, but most of the patch numbers say "Band Missing" for the track. That is to say--nothing at all loads on, and a lot is removed.

I have the 1.04 firmware. I have tried two different SD cards, both formatted by the G-DEC utility and not. Same result every time.

Hey d1stewart,

You may want to try running the Blues firmware/Preset process first, then go back and load the Blues media.

Thanks, Loren. This did work.

I would suggest you have the software folks revise the "READ ME FIRST- G-DEC 3 Media Install .txt" that comes in all of these restore bundles, and have them note that this is the way to get it to work.

So for those who can't get it to work right, the steps are these:
Copy ONLY file with the .upd extension to the SD card.
Put that in your G-DEC and fire it up. When cued to run the update, press Start to do so.
When that is finished, the screen will ask if you want to delete the updater; press Start to do so.
Take the SD card out, and copy the two data files to the card: The .img file, and the .bin file.
Put that in your G-DEC and fire it up. When cued to run the update, press Start to do so.
When the update runs, it'll put the patches and backing tracks on the G-DEC. When finished, it will tell you to recycle power to complete the update.
    Restart the G-DEC.
When it starts up, press EXIT (at the screen cue) to skip rerunning the update, and START (at the cue) to delete the files.

I successfully changed my G-DEC 3 to all 3 versions and now the blues version is running.
Wile installing the special content I backed up the presets and backing track from all 3 versions. Is there a chance to save this to sd card and play it, if there is still an other version installed? Is there a chance to jam to some metal with the right presents without changing the blues content?

A backup and restore affects the entire set of 100 Presets on the amp. You won't be able to pick and choose Presets from each sound set. If that's what you want to do, you'll have to download each Preset and Band Track individually.
