I know I read several months ago of others having problems with the headphone jack. I hadn't had any problems so I assumed it had been fixed. Now my headphone jack doesn't work. The real b*tch about this is I can ONLY play with the headphones on due to neighbor situation, so now I am completetly down until this is repaired (God, how many weeks will that be?) or replaced entirely? I suppose I need to take it back to the dealer I got it from but is there ANYTHING being done to fix this weak headphone jack? Why in the world was it designed with a 1/8 inch jack instead of a 1/4?

Needless to say I am frustrated to no end.

Ok, so I tried to archive my presets, many of them my own custom ones, and find that I have the Fuse "Please wait" problem as well. I have uninstalled Silverlight, and tried to download the latest version of Fuse, which I expected to have the bug fixed. Now not only does that version not work, but I can't get the original version to work either. The dealer tells me that the amp needs to be returned to Fender (at my expense) and it should take only 3 - 4 weeks. I am supposed to play in two weeks with several friends at our company picnic and now I have no amp and presumeably my custom presets will disappear. Of course our backing tracks are stored on my amp.

I know it is my fault for not backing up the presets earlier when the original version of Fuse was working, but my enthusisam for this amp is beginning to wane. I asked if I could just get a replacement GDEC, but apparently that was not an option. At least I remembered to get the SD card out before they took my amp away. Any suggestions from Fender? Looks like not only me but my friends are dorked as well.

Update. Fender decided to send me a new amp, delivery 7 - 10 days. The store I took the amp to allowed me to download my presets onto an SD card. While I still feel the headphone jack design is bad, I must admit Fender is aggressively backing up their product. This is a good thing.

Loren, et all, as an electronics engineer I have crossed this issue with my own job. A direct-mount to CCA connector or, in this case, headphone jack, is never a good idea if there are going to be continuous connections and disconnections. You are relying on the solder joint to withstand all the inherent stresses due to connect/disconnect actions. It will not hold up. We always use a wire interface to connect to a CCA. The flex in the wire makes it MUCH more reliable. I understand it is a (very) slightly more expensive manufacturing method, but the increase in reliability and customer experience should more than cover the difference in cost and greatly reduce warranty expenses. Perhaps you could pass this along to whoever makes these kind of decisions.
