I posted this in the mustang forum but i thought that the responses in this forum may be different....

I was going to get a mustang 3 but then recently have leaned toward the g-dec 3 30.

I read about them on these forums and still can't decide. Price aside how did you decide if you chose one or the other?

I'm going to use it only for practice in my home. I play mostly rock/metal.

I do have garageband and amplitube (free) for my ipad so i do have effects from them.

Thanks.

I love my Gdec. Just switched it over to the blues version and loaded up some of my fav EC songs and I've never played more, enjoyed playing as much and learning so much using the track feature. You can record a small clip off an intro or lead part and loop it and play at it until you master it. You can also save the clip for future use. I love how easy it is to match up a tone to the one on the track. I have the 30 that has a line out making it so easy to send a line to the pa giving you as much wattage as you could ever want. My vote is for the Gdec. The stangs don't have a line out, so you have to use the headphone out that cancels out the speaker and it's a dinky 1/8" jack that would need to adapt to 1/4" to send to the pa and then you lose the output from the speaker. The bigger ones have an effects loop that you can use for a line out, but too much for a practice setup

I originally bought a Mustang one, but I had an opportunity to play with the GDEC at the Guitar center, and the presets were Great , and the Band Tracks were really fun and sounded great , and they were matched to the presets, Also Looping, etc, I took the Mustang 1 back and got the GDEC 3 thirty. I have had it for a couple of months and it has been great. Excellent sound, ( the Thirty Watt has a separate tweeter ) and it makes me want to play.

I found the Mustang 1 to be a pain to dial in my sound. I am sure there are many people that would disagree , but that was my take.

If you have not tried them both, that would be the best bet... Try and bring your guitar with you ( or as close as you can get to your model at the store ) that also makes a difference in the sound .

Keep in mind that the GDEC does not have the standard AMP control knobs , treble , bass, gain, middle, , etc. It has the Volume and Band Track volume as well as a TONE knob ( which I do use ) .
But all the knobs are on the FUSE screen so you have easy access to it if you are sitting playing with the PC attached to it.. But some people want those Physical features.
