Greetings...

I'd like to know if the downloadable presets from the Fender site will load and work properly on an original GDec, or are they only good for the GDec 30? Also... if anyone has spent time with both original and the thirty, do they have similar sound quality via the headphone or line out jacks? [will be using for recording or as a modeling preamp into PA]

Thanks!

D

The original G-DEC series amplifier's presets use MIDI System Exclusive messages (*.sys files) to send to and from the amp via MIDI cables connected to a computer's MIDI interface.

Since the original G-DEC series amplifiers do not have a USB port, you can't use *.fuse preset files or connect to the FUSE software.

You can however download the G-DEC (15) or G-DEC 30 Preset Editor for the original series from this page. You can also visit this site where people have shared their presets and other stuff.

If your amplifier does have a USB port, then you have a G-DEC 3 series amp and the presets will work via the FUSE software. You'll also want to make future posts in the G-DEC 3 series forum rather than this one if that is the case.

Nice answer P90, does this mean I could buy a newer 15 model and get the 50 Blues settings? I like the new 30 models with blues/country/metal but it's not worth $400 to me.

Sorry for the delayed reply...

Well, I don't own a newer GDEC 3 amp, I have an original GDEC 15 and a new Mustang, but I am fairly certain that all presets that work on a GDEC 3-30 amp will work on a GDEC 3-15.

Just like any preset made on a Mustang III, IV or V can be loaded on a Mustang I/II.

So, yes, could buy a newer 15 model (GDEC 3) and load the new blues/country/metal presets on it using FUSE.

You can't however load GDEC presets on a Mustang or vise-versa. (FYI)
