I have the first generation G dec amp. The selector knob has gone insane. I'm curious to know if I can send that G dec and if they will send me either the exact same type or a newer version of the G DEC.
Thanks,
Parker

If you are under warranty, best to contact your local Fender repair dealer to see if they will fix or send another amp. My understanding is the techs don't fix it. they contact fender and send a new one out. They replaced my G-DEC with no problems. Just make sure you did not do any mods to the amp (like changing speaker, or opening it up to tweek) that would void the warranty.

I would be interested to see how this plays out myself. Please let us know.

Thanks, Keith

I have a G-dec jr that went in for warranty. Tech called me today and said Fender is sending the new Carbon model since they don't have the same one ant more. I don't know if that will apply on the G-Dec 15/30 as the prices are a little higher than the originals as compared to the Jr. I did read on the mustang forum that someone got a credit they used on a mustang but that may have been a GC deal and not Fender. either way get in touch with a Fender Service Center or Customer Support. Don't give up keep trying email and call

O.K...Good news! After having my G-Dec 15 for 4 years. I got sick of using it for a $269.99 tuner. My scroll whell never worked properly. And quite honestly, I really never like the sound of it.

I brought the old 15 to my local authorized repair technician. Low and behold, Fender replaces it with a brand new G-Dec 3! Scroll wheel works, sounds 10 times better and now has fuse via USB.

I Love Fender!

Thanks, Duke

I realize that this message is quite late in the scheme of things, but I have the same issue with my first generation G-DEC. The scroll knob just goes nuts. For what it's worth, it does seem to get a little more stable (but not completely) if I leave the unit on for a long time. So, that's just what I do. It always stays on...never goes off. By doing that, the unit is somewhat useable. Also, I never liked the sound of it either. I bought a used G-DEC Jr. on e-bay for $100, but when I received it, it was DOA, so I had to pay another hundred bucks to get it fixed. I ended up paying more than a new one would have cost me, but it was worth it. I LOVE the Jr. Too bad they don't make it anymore.

I think I saw a web page somewhere that describes how to clean that scroll wheel. You can Google it.
I think it takes a little technical savvy to do it but it is definitely doable.
