I just bought the footswitch (Fender ULT-4). Is there a how to manual for this thing? Specifically, I want to know if I can use it to turn music on the SD card on and off. I take lessons and I play along with the songs I am learning. It would be very helpful if the switch could stop and start songs. Thanks.

Hi Allen319,
Pitty the footswitch didn't come with the amp, but it is sure worth paying the extra cash for it, IMO. I was dissapointed when it came without instructions to, but once you start playing around with it is easy to work it out. to answer your question, yes you can start and stop presets from your SD card, first press the quick access button on the amp which should give you access to the SD card presets, now press the Mode/Tuner, on the footswitch once to put it in mode 2, now press the QA1, button to scroll down or the QA2 button to scroll up through the presets on your SD card, when you have the one you want then press the QA3 button and vwalla your preset starts playing, press again and it stops :D magic 8)

MODE 1, MODE/TUNER(hold button down for tuner), QA1(quick access 1), QA2, QA3,

MODE 2 DOWN(scroll presets), UP(scroll presets), SELECT(start/stop playing preset)

MODE 3 PLAY(what you record), RECORD(whatever your playing), OVERDUB(what you recorded)

Quick access 1,2,3 relate to the first 3 presets on your amp 00,01,02 (while in mode 1)

Hope this helps.

P.S. To anyone who hasn't got the footswitch yet, do yourself a favor and get one, it makes your G-DEC experience so much better and easier  8)

The footswitch operation is documented in the advanced users manual on this website.

There are some cool "extra" functions that I have found.
For example, if you use the quick access button on the front of the amp, the footswitch will let you scroll through the backing tracks and I think that you can still chose between the QA1, QA2, QA3 amp presets.

I followed rockandblues recommendations and it worked just fine. I am taking guitar lessons and my teacher provides me with the key to a song and has me try and listen to the chords and figure out what they are. This amp only allows starting and stopping tracks. Once you hit stop and start again, it starts from the beginning. There is no pause button. It would be so helpful if this feature was available.

Having a pause function would be the ducks nuts, it is rather annoying having to start the preset all over again, hopefully Fender can address this with a firmware update. Why not get creative and add a rewind and fast forward as well. 8)
