Geez, Louise, this poor old board is quiet these days! I'm a devoted follower of the good old G-DEC amps, though I will admit I also own two of the new G-DEC 3-Thirty amps as well. I used to have SIX of the old G-DECs as I played out with them all the time using MIDI backing tracks behind me. I sold two to friends, but kept four.

When I first got my old G-DEC 30 in January of 2008, I went through all the presets and most I didn't care for. The first (U00 or P00) was particularly loud and buzzy and I didn't think I'd ever find a use for it. But... I kept wandering back to it and eventually I wrote a song using that backing Track. Here it is:

http://www.esnips.com/doc/2dd7aa0d-c462 ... e-Ground-2

The guitar is being played through the same G-DEC, using the preset with no changes, just as it came from Fender. I first recorded just the backing track, about eight minutes of it, then added the guitar parts and vocals as separate tracks. The guitar sustain is sweet and I really like the way the guitar parts came out. The snare pops in the intro are just tiny clips borrowed from the original backing track.

Hope you like the song! Don't give up on the old G-DECs!

Hey Dennis,
I think you are right on with this Gdec stuff... Ive had mine for 3 +years now. All though I don't play out, I do use the amp to its full potential, and am very satisfied with the tone this bad boy makes! The link you provided comes up bad... but your website is great!.
I have a bunch of family from your area, and I grew up in Des Moines... Family farm up by Colesburg. The next time were up your way I hope to see you play.

Bill

I just tried the live link and it comes right up for me, shouldn't be protected or anything, so not sure what's wrong. Maybe some other folks can try it and see.

I haven't updated the website recently. My partner and I decided to take the winter off, way too much fooling around last winter in the ice and snow and bars don't seem to be the best at cleaning their parking lots. :x

The reason I ended up with so many G-DECs was because of their limited capacity for backing tracks, 50 or so on a good day, and Rick and I play a lot of different venues, plus I always took backup amps along just in case.

Thanks for the kind words!

As far as problems with the link, they should be fixed now. I had to go "public" with my stuff so the world could get at it. Let me know if it still doesn't work.

Thanks!
