Thanks for replying Luther.

Would you mind trying a few more steps? Format the SD Card in the amp and copy the blues content back over to it and try the install process again. If it fails, re download the content from our site and copy it to the card but don't re-format the card again. It's possible that it will work. Thanks.

Hi Loren,

I'm 98% sure I've done your recommended test at least twice, with failed results as outlined in my other posts. I have to admit, I'm on to mostly creating my own presets, so my interest in loading the grouped patches has dwindled.

However, it seems like the number of problems that myself and others have experienced with group patches and 1.04 update, indicates that it is a common problem experienced by many, and should be easy to duplicate at your IT office at Fender. Hopefully you can reproduce the same errors all of us have waded through, and come up with a solution.

At the least, Fender should update and warn other users contemplating the updates, that the system is not entirely bug free, and users have experienced problems. Maybe even a link to this discussion would be advised.

We all just want to enjoy the amp, and dial in great Fender sounds.

Thanks for your attention in this matter,
Luther

Only thing I haven't tried that would make sense is to start clean with a brand new SD card, perhaps even smaller than 8 gig. Reading other posts, it does seem that those who bought a brand new card then had success.

FYI - my SD card was a used one that was reformatted....

I have had the "error programming" problem several times. i solved it once by putting the blues special editon presets on the amp. however, after updating fuse to 2,4 i lost all speaker sound on band tracks. strangely they worked when the headphones were plugged in. i decieded to reboot hoping that the sound would come back but no. what i am left with now is the "errror programming" problem which basically leaves with with a useless amp. i did install an older version of fuse and tried to update the firmware through it but it can't be done as i am unable to press the update button as it is not highlighted. this is a terrible blow for fender as this is supposed to be verstile amp. it DOES NOT WORK. i definitely need help on this one.

COME ON FENDER

i got lucky on this one as i connected to a laptop it recongized the gdec as a harddrive which enabled me to put the update file on the gdec and then complete installation. this is obviously not how the probem should be solved. i have the original presets installed but would prefer the blues edtion, however i don't dare try installing them in fear of getting the error programming problem again. this problem kind of defeats the object with the gdec as it's alll about its versatility which is now lost.

i can only say: COME ON FENDER, SOLVE THE PROBLEM!

I encountered a glitch, though not quite the same as what others are experiencing. I downloaded the Fuse 2.4.1 software, and my new amp had 1.02 firmware in it. Once I loaded the Fuse software on and plugged in the USB cable, it popped up a message saying 1.04 firmware was available. It started installing, then Windows suddenly popped up a message saying that my device was ready to use. The Fuse software just kept saying that it was updating, for about 10 minutes. No progress indicator, nothing indicating that anything was happening. A quick Google search said it was only supposed to take 15 seconds.

As somebody who works on embedded firmware, and well aware of the dangers of interrupting firmware updates, I had this horrible thought that somehow I just made a very big paperweight out of my new G-DEC 3 Thirty. I took a chance, turned off the power, unplugged the USB cable, and when I turned it on, I was relieved that the logo came up. Then it said it found that a software update was found, and if I wanted to update. I crossed my fingers and let it continue, and all seems well now. It was a bit scary since there was no prompt from the Fuse software saying I needed to intervene, or that I needed to cycle power.

For what it's worth, it was a Windows 7 laptop, Fuse software was 2.4.1, the G-DEC 3 had version 1.02 and it was upgrading to 1.04.

Hey Guys,

I apologize for the delay.

Alan - The issue you experienced is one that we've seen before. The good news is that pretty much no matter what happens you can connect to a computer and place the proper firmware files on the G-DEC's internal memory. Don't be hesitant to convert to the Blues edition. You won't likely encounter any issues doing so.

I'm also having difficulties with the 1.04 firmware update. Not only unzipping it...but once I got it updated. Now every time I turn it on, it says "Update Found!", and I either have to press Start, or Exit, to get it to turn on. If there isn't a Version 1.05 with a fix soon, I'm going to look for a way to revert to an earlier version. It's really annoying. Also, can someone please send my password reset? I've been waiting for a day and a night.

I had these same problems with fuse updating firmware version 1.04,i did not use the SD card method but to resolve my problem i got the same message on the LCD display as tzer0 mentioned:(Now every time I turn it on, it says "Update Found!", and I either have to press Start, or Exit, to get it to turn on.)

I pressed the Start button and the update installed version 1.04 on my G-DEC 3,i hope anyone else with this problem has luck installing the firmware by pressing the Start button to accept the update.

Tzer0,when you reboot your amp and you get the message to press start or exit to turn on your amp did your amp accept the firmware update if you pressed the start button?
