Hi Guys and or Gals,

Can you help me please, re: -my GDEC-3, I have just attempted to update my AMP with Firmware version 1.04 (from V1.01) and it recognises it from the SD card, starts the update ok, says Veryfying Image but then states Error Programming and hangs.

Can't connect to the amp now using the Fuse Software either.

Now that the Flash memory is corrupted -so it appears, I am unable to use the AMP.

Can you please advise me on some corrective steps? Thanks and enjoy your day...

Hi, did you format the SD card with the amp?
Updating the firmware from the G-DEC 3 front panel:
Download the latest firmware.
Unzip the downloaded zipped archive file which contains the binary firmware file.
Copy gdec3_v1_04.upd to the root of an SD card.
Copy the file to an SD card.
With the Fender G-DEC 3 powered off, insert the SD card into the unit.
Power the unit on and follow the on-screen instructions.
Maybe you could try a factory restore using the CD and then try to update.
Hope it helps otherwise one of the Fender moderators will post about your problem.

Hello RunDuke,

Thank you very much for taking ther time to respond... yes -the SD card was formatted -it was the one I was using all along to save/load songs off the Amp.

I did download the latest firmware, but even with an installation CD -Fuse doesn't see the Amp any longer.

Hopefully, a Fender moderator will suggest an answer at some point! Thanks again for your suggestions though... much appreciated.

Hi Hughami,

I apologize for the delay. Are you still having this issue? That particular error is usually related to the NAND flash memory on the amp possibly being corrupted. You should get it to a service center if you haven't already done so.

I am having the same problem. Returning the amp to a service center is the wrong answer.

Hi Mike,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean by that.

I believe you Loren.

I had to reinstall the Original Factory Firmware software after getting a "NOT A VALID APPLICATION" error on the G-DEC 3 panel; then install the 1.4 update, and THEN install the Blues Special Edition. The SP install still gagged on track 003 by throwing a "File Length" error. Cheeze Louise!

At that point, I checked the list of Blues FSR Backing Tracks on the FUSE Web page, and determined I already had most of the ones I had any use for. It was a miserably frustrating, day-long customer experience to say the least. Fender makes great guitars and T-shirts. I am not so sure about the software. Focus groups people! :->)

I had the same problem. I was just about to give up and tried one last thing and it worked.

I plugged the now blank amp into the computer and it asked if I wanted to open the amps files to view. I did and it had three empty folders. I then put the SD card into the amp and opened that up. I just dragged the firmware update fron the SD card onto the root folder of the amp and it took it. Then when I power cycled the amp it now added the blues update.

I liked the amp before but got sick of the song pretty quickly. I now love this version with all the new tunes.

I have a Gdec 3 just purchased in Europe - used it three days before trying to load the Blues and Metal versions via SD card. I too get "error programming" and "invalid application". The amp won't connect to fuse, and won't update to version 1.04 by itself, or with a amp install pack (like Blues, Metal, or original).

Reading here, I suspect that these updates require version 1.04 FIRST, and not at the same time of the load of an amp pack, and now I'm stuck with the amp HD erased, and no way to get it to boot.

I can't find any place to download the original version of the firmware 1.01, which is annoying. Is there no hard reset for this thing?

I'm here in europe for a month - what's my solution?

ok - I found the original firmware 1.01 on the dvd. Tried to update it alone, and as a package with factory restore. No luck with either. Still get "application invalid" and error programming when running the update.

I've owned many keyboards, computers, and electronics, and have never experienced being completely locked out of the unit without any way of resetting or rebooting clean.

I'm seeing from these posts this is not a new problem.

Looking for some resolve from Fender...

Thanks to the last ditch effort using a tip from another user in this thread, I got 1.04 to load.

I connected USB to amp on my MAC, clicked on the Gdec, and selected all folders and content, and dragged off to the trash. I then dragged the 1.04 .upd to the Gdec on my desktop.

Then went to the amp, and rebooted and it brought up the 1.04 updater prompt. I followed the prompts and it finally worked.

This technique is not documented anywhere except this thread, and obviously can't be the routine answer to this problem. Fender needs to correct the directions for downloading and installing the additional amp collections, and my guess is that one needs to update firmware 1.04 FIRST.

There also needs to be a solution for when the Flash becomes corrupted. Having your amp completely lock up and become useless is not acceptable.

I seem to have all of the above mentioned problems. Please can somebody from Fender help with this issue. I have a beautiful, pristine black and silver box that makes absolutely no noise (my neighbours now love me again!) and my warranty runs out in 2 weeks.

Cracked it!! I hope this works for others. It seems the v1.04 blues update will only install on top of the v1.04 update that was released last year. I went right back and installed that and then installed the v1.04 Blues update and the Blues Loops and it all works brilliantly. Now, unless my playing has improved my neighbours can go back to hating me.

Hey Guys,

We're trying to zero in the cause of this issue. Can you please give me the following information.

Computer OS:
OS Version:
G-DEC 3 Firmware Version:
SD Card Brand:
SD card class (type 2,4, etc...):
SD card capacity:
Card format(Fat 16, Fat 32, etc...):

If you can provide us with that info hopefully we'll have an idea of what is going on. Thanks.

Computer OS: Mac 10.5.8
OS Version: 10.5.8
G-DEC 3 Firmware Version: 1.02, now upgraded to 1.04
SD Card Brand: Sandisk
SD card class (type 2,4, etc...): type 4
SD card capacity: 8gb
Card format(Fat 16, Fat 32, etc...): can't remember exactly, but Fat xx - have tried both formatting with Gdec, and formatting using the Mac, no difference in operation.

Current status: 1.04 loaded and working. I can use SD card for transferring audio files one at a time, but if I try to load the "Blues" files, it always chokes on file number three saying "file size error". I have never been able to load any of the update "packages", even after upgrading to 1.04.
