Some of my thoughts on the speaker swap from the stock speaker to the Ragin Cajun:

It was easy enough to find the replacement wire connectors for the Ragin Cajun - the one on the stock speaker is a different size. Just bought a pack of ¼ inch female spade connectors from Radio Shack for like $3. No soldering needed.

The Ragin Cajun is significantly heavier than the stock speaker. Adds some weight to the amp, but not too much. Definitely a difference in volume – the Ragin Cajun is much louder. Eminence recommended disconnecting the tweeter but I tried it both ways. I don’t notice much of a difference either way. Either the tweeter doesn’t do a whole lot or the Ragin Cajun just drowns it out. Maybe both.

On the tone itself, I was somewhat disappointed at first because the high’s sound a little harsh. But I just needed to tweak my presets and they sound pretty good now – I’ve got about 5 of my own presets that I use about 90% of the time. I’ve had about 5 hours of play time on it and another 4 hours letting the backing tracks play. I was a little skeptical of “speaker break-in” but there is no question that the speaker sounds better now than when I first installed it. It sounds smoother. The low end is much more full and less boomy than the stock speaker. I was concerned that with all of the bass there would be no high end but that’s not the case at all. The highs seem a little harsh sometimes, but it’s already getting better and the EQ/timbre probably just needs to be adjusted. Has a more articulate sound across the board.

All in all, I'm happy I made the switch.

A side note, I notice a significant difference when removing the back of the amp. I think it sounds much better with the back removed.
