First, I have lots of good presets that I have tweaked or obtained from other owners on the fuse site, so I know that the G-DEC3 can get some great sounds.

But, I am at a loss as to why the samples sound so good on fender's GDEC page. Almost all of the samples are presets that I have pretty much given up on, because I don't think the guitar tone does the backing track justice.

for example:

http://www.fender.com/products/gdec3/fe ... band-track

but when I try that exact factory preset on my G-DEC, I don't get as nice a tone. For instance, many of them are done with a telecaster, so I am using my US 52 reissue and can't seem to get close to that tone. For the gretsch tone(s) I'm using my epiphone dot.

I know that there are always variables, but I've tried a lot of tweaking of volume & tone knobs etc. and can only seem to get close, but not nearly as good.

I'm open to ideas from others... In general, I have had great luck with this amp, but this one is baffling me because I feel like I'm missing out on some additional great tones :-)

thanks,
Dave

I also experience this...the jam tracks sound great but the tone of my guitar (even after tweaking) sounds muddy or not even close to the music being played. :?

I see a lot of videos on YouTube showing the different sounds on this amp but when I plug in and try to get the same tone it sounds like crap...especially the distortion modes.

It could be that they are using the line outs to record rather than playing through the amp or using the line outs to play through a PA or powered speakers rather than the amps speakers. Does playing through headphones sound any better?
