Need some help with the GDEC.
I followed the advanced menu and read through numerous threads, but still have problems matching downloaded new presets with new band tracks.

I used the Utility menu to unlock the memory, and can successfully download new presets using the USP hookup from computer to amp.

When I attempt to download band tracks the software indicates I have too much in memory, and instructs me to delete some files.

When I attempt to delete preset files, the software indicates I cannot delete files, but can only overwrite the amp presets.

1/ How can I delete some of the presets/band tracks I will never use?
2/ How do I match new band tracks with my new presets?
3/ How can I free up the memory?

thanks
Gerry

Gerry,

You really need to add an SD card if you want to put additional band tracks on your gdec. It is possible to free up a little space on the internal memory by deleting existing band tracks, but you will be limited as to how large the new tracks can be. If you put the amp into usb mode and view the folders from your computer, you should find the folder called Audio that contans the existing band tracks. Use the file explorer to delete the ones you don't want and drag the new ones there. Once you do that, you can modify your presets to reference the new band tracks. You can do this either from fuse or from the front panel of the amp. See the section titled "Band Menus" on how to associate the band track with the preset. Please ask more questions if it doesn't make sense to you. It is definitely possible and once you do it once or twice, you'll be an expert.

The amp presets are tiny compared to the band tracks, so removing them wouldn't accomplish what you want (even if you could).

Good luck,
Dave

thanks for your response Dave.

I plugged the amp via usb to the pc, but I dont see how to get to the Audio files apart from the media library, so how do I get to the amp's hard drive and to the Audio folder?

Thanks for your help
Gerry

Gerry,

You need to go to the utility menu by holding down the button under the big round knob to the right. Push the left most soft-key under the LCD display 2 times to get to the USB DRIVE menu, then push either of the 2 middle soft-keys under the display. You should now see your amp show up as folders on your computer. The amp will stay in this USB Drive mode until you push the Exit button on the amp (same button as you held down to get into the utility menu). There is a short blurb in the advanced manual about USB Drive mode in the section that talks about the utility menu... But I see now that it isn't described in any detail.

Let me know if you get to that point and you're able to see the folders on your computer.

good luck,

Dave
