Hi All,

This is my first post.

I just purchased/upgraded to a G-Dec 3 30.

Got it home out of the box. Read quick start. Plug in. Turn on.

What comes up initially (and every time) is

Setting 00 J5 Tele Dirty
with a a track "I think" of J5 Impalement 3.

Not what is listed in quick start guide (rock the g-dec) but sounds really great. Way better tone than the my previous g-dec 15.

When I try to hit the Start/stop button nothing happens. re-read manual. Look like it should work. the band should be playing. Check band level turn it up more. Still nothing..

Try switching the band tracks, pick something randomly, try to play again using start/stop nothing.

Turn the encoder knob try start/stop at something else. Nothing no band track will play.

O.K. what so I do next? Put it back in the box and take it back? Download firmware?

Thanks,

Dave

O.K. Was a bit rushed earlier.

I even though I had the band turned up to 3 or so I had the volume on only a bit past 1 so the combination did allow the band to be heard above the guitar noise. So lok like i figured that one out. Feeling a little silly....

Now to play around with it a bit...

One thing I am not sure about is the apparent lack of just regular base and drum loops and the ability to change keys without shifting the pitch of everything else. The MIDI stuff on board just seems to be the metronome, while all the wav tracks have a lot more going than I would like to have for just jamming, practicing scales.

Oh well got to look around a bit and see what i can import I guess.

Cheers,

Dave

There are some midi drum loops on the DVD that came with your GDEC 3....

Thanks Duncane! I see them there. Will try in a bit.

I just tried updating the firmware 1.04 but was unsuccessful. The 3 30 boots up as 1.02, so I downloaded the 1.04 version.

Prior to installing it I downloaded the latest version of FUSE 2.01. Which seemed go fine.

Plugged in the amp to usb then the started fuse, turned on amp. Found the firmware file in utilities and it took off, FUSE gave me the moving bar saying updating, Amp said please wait "updating".

Let it run for about 1 hour maybe more. Nothing more happened it never seemed to finish the update just kept saying please wait. So I just ejected the G-dec usb, and shut everything. Powered back up still saying 1.02.

Did I abort to quick? I thought maybe 10mins or so would be it... anyone experience these problems before. Did I have to run 1.03 first?

Thanks,

Dave

I do mine by loading the updates on my SD card. That avoids any download issues. Hope that helps!

Hi Thanks bclarke. I have to get an SD card for this. I have some for my cameras but want to have a dedicated one for the amp. There isn't tons of storage on the amp hard drive so it's a necessity.

I figured out the problem. I hadn't extracted the zip file properly. Once I extracted the files and placed them (PC ones) on my desktop it worked straight away.

Cheers,

Dave

Hi Alan,

Thanks for the reply and link. I sucessfully downloaded the Midi tracks to my pc and then to the AMP. They worked great. (A few may have been different starting key, but easy enough to change with a pitch adjustment.) The pitch adjustment doesn't seem to affect the MIDI files negitively like it does with the .wav files. That was a feature I appreciated with the old GDec midi's. The keychange only dropped the bass line, but didn't affect the Drum portion. It was great for practicing scales and working out things in different keys with little effort.

Slowly getting a handle on things...

Cheers,

Dave
