This might sound a bit stupid, but, would I get a usable outcome if I plug a bass guitar into the gdec 3? Could it break the speaker element or create some other problem that might not be covered by the guarantee?

IMO I wouldn't recommend it. I don't think the speaker could handle the low end for a bass long term. If you used it like a head and send the line out to a powered speaker is an option, but not a great one unless you already have bass amp with an effects loop. Then you could send the signal to the return side ( Im' doing that at home), a powered speaker or PA.

Hi JoeR,

We do not recommend using the Fender G-DEC 3 for bass guitar. It is not designed for use with a bass, and therefore is not considered "normal conditions" use within the scope of the warranty. We would suggest checking out some of our bass amps here: http://www.fender.com/products/search.p ... amplifiers.

Best Regards,
