Do I understand correctly?

If I want to record onto my computer, (iMac), I can do this with a G-DEC 3 Thirty, and a guitar? Does the G-DEC come with all the cords and connections I need?

Thank you!

Joel

Yes, the GDEC gives you a usb interface that you can plug into your computer, assuming that your computer supports the fender ASIO driver software requirements.

You can use the software that comes with it or any other software on your mac that supports ASIO devices.

You can record on your Mac without installing any drivers. The G-DEC 3 supports Core Audio. ASIO is only for Windows. If you go to your Sound pane in System Prefs you should see your G-DEC available as an audio device.

I've been trying to figure this out for awhile. I have a PC, IE 7. Is there some place with specific instructions for the non-computer oriented person? I have no idea what an ASIO is or how to use it. Step by step computer and hook up instructions would really be nice. I don't see anything like this in the advanced instructions or the FUSE manual. I want to lay down a rhythm track I could save as a band track and then put a solo over that. Obviously the on amp sampling capacity is pretty small (the background track is approx. 4 minutes long).

If there is something like this already posted, please let me know the link. If it doesn't exist, I'm sure I'm not the only one who would like some thorough instructions.

Hey valcom2,

Here's a KB article with instructions and some videos on setting up the Fender ASIO driver with Ableton Live Lite 8. The setup will be similar on almost any other Windows audio app. I'm not sure if it's for a non computer oriented person, but given the fact that the amp and software are pretty computer oriented, you should have a look.

You'll need to install the Fender ASIO driver which can be found here:

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Loren

I was able to install ASIO and get started on the tutorials on Ableton, but I have run into another snag in that I cannot get my guitar to register on the inputs to Ableton. I have been trying to work with the Ableton help people but they don't seem to "get" what I am trying to do using the GDEC. They keep wanting me to "disable direct monitoring in my audio deveice". All I have is my guitar, the GDEC, the USB cable, and my computer (PC, Windows XP). I started out with instant feedback when arming Ableton. I have since set monitor to "off" which killed the feedback but still no signal input from the guitar. Do I need to do something other than hook up the amp via USB? If I ran lines from EXT on the amp, where would they go to on the computer? I tried to view thew videos you listed but my computer at work can't play them and we are blocked from downloading software that would let me see them.

I am trying to record a rhythm track from my guitar so I can save it as a backing track and develop a lead section for it. I have been beating my head against a wall now for over a week. Can someone who has done this help with the software configuration and the physical hook ups if I am doing something wrong. It just shouldn't be this difficult and I am betting I am missing something stupid that is obvious to anyone who has been using this, just not to me.

Yes, I called in, got with Alan and we were able to get the guitar situation solved. Turned out to be an ASIO problem that was easy to fix (operator error). I am very impressed with the call in help. Much easier to deal with on complicated issues.

I am trying now to figure our how to add drum tracks and instruments. So far no luck, but I am not ready to give up just yet. If so, I will not hesitate to call.
