Can someone help me with this 'Memory Locked' response I keep getting in trying to modify a preset? Haven't spent an enormous amount of time trying to customize the amp to my liking, but whenever I try to 'save' a preset according to my taste, I get a "Memory Locked" response, which seems to keep me from saving the setting per my changes.

The online manual takes to freaking long for me to download even via dsl, so I thought I'd try putting this out there to see what the easy fix is.

The User (U-) presets are the ones that may be modified and saved, if you are trying to save changes to a Programed (P-) preset the amp will not accept the save command.
Pick your least favorite User preset (write down all the settings), go to the Programmed setting you are trying to change (again, write down all the settings) and go back to the User preset, make and save all your changes there and rename the new setting.
I find keeping a record of all starting, ending settings on a spread sheet useful and you can never have to much back-up.

Cheers,
John.E

In the support video, the guy changes the parameters of a factory preset, and claims if he pushes "Memory" one more time it is permanent. I just get Memory Locked when I follow his instructions.

So if you make a user preset, does that require Fuse, and will it say, do you want to replace the exicting factory one?

To unlock the memory...

1.) Press the "Utility" button twice. The display should indicate the status of Memory Lock.

2.) Turn the data wheel knob until the status reads "unlocked".

3.) Press the "Save" button.

Now you should be able to save your own presets in the "U" slots.

Note that these are instructions for the original G-DEC series amps as that is the forum you have posted in. I don't know if it is the same for G-DEC 3 series amps.

The original G-DEC series amps can't make use of FUSE. See my post here for links to manuals, updates and software available for original G-DEC series amps. These amps are not that intuitive to use for most users so, you really need to take the time to download and read all the manuals.

Fender has a great 5 year warranty. They replaced my G-DEC with no problems.
