In an effort to get more recording time, I'm thinking of buying a jm4 Line 6 looper to hook up to my GDEC. My question is, can I do that and will it work? I read that you could hook up using both the line out and looping it around through the aux in but has anyone one out there tried it? I love the GDEC and it's really made my playing better but the recording time is frustrating. I liked the jm4 because of it's drum tracks but is there a better idea out there?

Hi, I'm using a Boss RC-2 loop sation pedal (G-Dec3 line out---> RC-2 aux in-->RC-2 output---> line in stereo PA amp) and that gives me the opportunity to record up to 16 minutes...and the RC-2 has some usable drum beats that give you the possibility to quantize when writing a recorded loop in its internal memory...but that will never replace a good recording hardware or software because of their editing capacities. I use the RC-2 for practice.
I think that the jm4 Line 6 looper could do the same and maybe more since it has many more fonctions and it has a stereo line out...but you'll have to make these connections:
G-Dec3 line out--->jm4 aux in---> jm4 out to amp---> to another amp(guitar input)
or better (stereo)
G-Dec3 line out--->jm4 aux in--->jm4 stereo line out--->stereo PA amp line in

hope it helps.

Thanks for the reply, I really really appreciate it. Could i put my guitar into the looper and then the jm4 out to the guitar input on the GDEC? Assuming that I have the amp set at a neutral tone, like Clean Tele? I don't have another amp and really didn't want to buy one, although the mustang 2 has peaked my interest.......:>) Again, any help is really appreciated, thanks.

Yes you can plug your guitar in the JM4 and use its (to amp output) directly into the G-Dec but since the JM4 has its own sounds&tones&effects generator as you know, these sounds will be reproduced if you use the G-Dec as a "neutral amp" no effects and a clean amp...but I just imagine the weird results you could get using both units with their own effects and tones. But sometimes, "less is more". But imho: the best way to use the JM4 with the G-Dec3 would be to use the JM4 stereo out to the G-Dec stereo line in. Keep Rocking. :wink:

What stereo line in? Do you mean the Aux in?

Yes. Aux in left and right inputs.
