okay. I got this g-dec, i think it is the original series, i don't know but it says v. 1.02 and type pr 520. it used to work great but now when i flip the on switch it doesn't totally turn on, it will keep trying to turn on until i flip the on switch off. sometimes it will turn on and let me play for a while but not long, it will turn off and keep trying to turn on until it is switched off. do any of you have similar problems? or perhaps know how to remedy this problem? or even the cause of the problem would be nice to know, thank you.

Morning. I just got a G Dec and I have/had the same proble. It was trying to load host and kept on clicking. It seemed to me the power cable was not fitting into the amp area tight enough to keep it plugged in. If I hold the cable in snug the amp works fine. I put a bit of electrical tape on the plud to make it fit tighter inthe socket. It has worked fine for two days. I hope that is all the problem is and nothing with the electronics. But the tape worked for me.

Thanks Bill and they may be what I have to do. Mine is also running V 1.02 So I am thinking this is a software version. The local music store has a floor model running ver. 1.04 and no issue with it the salesman told men. The plug was kind of loose going into the amp on that model too. As I practiced today mine dumped/tried to reset/restart 3 times so I don't know what is going on with it. Will call the retailer I got it from in the morning. Maybe a software upgrade is needed. If I find out anything I'll post it Andrew.

Yes that is a firmware version, you can get the update here : http://www.fender.com/support/support_downloads_archive.php

Im running 1.04 and all is ok, I've had mine for a couple years now with no problems.

Good Luck

Bill

Bill, are you aware of any issues with previous software versions? I'll call the music shop I bought mine from in the morning. Great little amp and full of all kind of kick $@! stuff. Really bums me, but this stuff happens. I'm sure Fender will make it right.

Called Fender yesterday about the reboot issue with my G DEC. Very helpful rep. And I played and left the amp on all day without an issue. One bit of advice I did get was plug into a power strip with surge protection. That makes since as the electronics could get burnt up. Anyway, it seems two factory restores and some tape on the electric cable took care of my issue. :)
