Fender offers a ULT-4 Foot Switch for the B-DEC and G-DEC 30. The online descriptions and documentation are a little sketchy so it's not totally clear what to expect. I had a little GAS so I recommended it to my wife as a possible Christmas present for me. I figured I could have a little fun with it switching between my custom settings as I play.

Well, she got it for me. It came with no documentation so I have to find my way around by trial and error. It seemed to be working fine and eventually I will get around to really employing it.

This morning, I go to tune up. I put the B-DEC in tune mode and begin to check my tuning and all my notes are showing up on the foot switch! This thing becomes an extension of the B-DEC's built-in tuner! It shows me instantly what note I'm playing and if I'm flat (left red LEDs), sharp (right red LEDs) or in tune (center green LED). Pretty friggen' cool!

Then I wondered how it displayed sharp notes. See for yourself.
By the way, if you see any Tostito crumbs on the carpeting, just ignore them.

It's between $60 and $75. Google is your friend.

I got the B-DEC and the foot switch about a month ago. At first I found the foot switch a bit confusing. The manual describes the actions, but in my opinion, the descriptions aren't that great. Either way, a little trial and error and fiddling … and the thing saves you from constantly fiddling with hand controls. I love it. If you are going to invest in the B-DEC, get the foot switch ..... it is completely worth it.

Truly love the record and overdub ability ! Once you get a groove going or you feel like you just want to hear how you sound in comparison to a track … a tap of the foot, and you’ll know.

I have not been able to locate the Online Manual mentioned in the post from the guy that had the pictures included. Could someone send me the link? I just bought the switch.

Thanks!

Ron,

Operation of the ULT-4 is documented on page 13 of the GDEC-30 Manual.

Need a manual?

for instructions, check your documentation that came with the G-Dec 3 15 or 30. It's in my documentation.

To customize quick access settings I believe you would do this through the G-dec directly. I did it fairly easily for one of the 3 quick access. then it was automatically accessible with the footswitch. But I changed the quick access on the G-dec, not with the footswitch. is this what you're talking about?

Beware,
If you have a G-DEC 3 thirty original model and want to upgrade to the country or blues edition with the update provided by Fender, the pedal will no longer work. I tried it and had to exchange the pedal thinking it went bad. When I got the new one it still didn't work. I decided to try restoring to original settings an the pedal worked again.

Fender should look into this problem.

I hav a correction to this post:
I tried the update to the blues package again with the footswitch disconnected. After it finished, I reconnected the switch and all worked as expected. I must have done something wrong the first time.

I recently purchased the G-DEC Thirty Metal version. I purchased the foot-switch separately from Amazon.com. When I plug the foot-switch in it is dead. Any ideas?

Does the "metal" G-DEC need it's own foot switch?
