Can anyone tell me if the DSP in the G-DEC is in anyway similar to that in other Fender amps? I've seen the DSP logo on a few others, but i'm specifically talking about the new Super Champ and Vibro Champ XDs. A lot of the G-DECs tones sound brilliant to my ears, especially given the limitations of the tiny cabinet and 8" speaker, so being larger and valve driven presumably makes the XDs sound amazing. Or do i have the wrong end of the stick?

Marge

PS. I know the 5w XD only has an 8" speaker too, by the way.

For those of you who are not familiar with the Fender G-DEC, G-DEC 30 and B-DEC 30, Digital Entertainment Centers, it is a family of amplifier and speaker combos. What is unique is built in amp modelling, lots of guitar effects, selectable drum beats, bass lines and other instruments. It has reverb, echo and oher effects, a tuner, a phrase sampler and a built in synth with MIDI capability. So, you are looking at the ultimate practice partner, student teaching device, band/rythm section all in one easy to use combo.

The DSP is different. The Digital Signal Processing allows you to do without many of your pedals for effects. The Tube amp crowd won't be satisfied, but the DSP amps are great for fun and practice. I have the Stage 100 DSP 100 Watts and 160 Watts with the bottom cabinate and I LOVE IT!!! Brian

My Cyber Deluxe bridges the gap being part digital like the Gdce and part analog, but all solid state. I have lost count at the number of people that beleived there were tubes making the sound.

The difference in tone is subtle and most people really don't hear it. Tubes do have a sound. Modern solid state gear also has a sound. Much of the modern rock crowd has gone to solid state to get more bottom end.
