Hey guys. I'm considering buying a G-DEC instead of a G-DEC 3, and I want to know if this is advisable. I can get the older one new in the box for half of what the current version costs. Would I be getting a substantially better amp by going with the newer, more expensive version? Were there glitches in the older version that I will be stuck with?

I'm looking at this purely as a learning tool. I'm not thinking of getting world class tone out of it, but I do want it to sound decent enough that I like using it, and I want to be able to apply upgrades and fixes when necessary.

Thanks for any advice.

Well, as is so often the case, I've answered my own question. Def going with the newer amp. It seems to be a considerable improvement over the older version.

Thanks for all your help!

Hey aamm,

The G-DEC 3 is definitely the way to go. It's infinitely more future proof in terms of connectivity. It has USB for editing with Fender FUSE or for audio recording/playback. It also has an SD card slot for Band Track and Preset storage. Very few people have been dissatisfied with the G-DEC 3.

the G-Dec 3's USB and SD Card alone make it worth it. I replaced my G-Dec with a G-Dec 3, and cannot say enough about it, upgrade wise. (i.e. no more USB to MIDI adapter, etc.)

enjoy!

Got my G-Dec 3 Thirty today. It's sitting on the floor next to my desk at work, and I can't wait to get home and plug in to it. I don't think I'll leave the house this weekend.
