Are these amps using the same basic amp models? Obviously each amp will sound different based on the variances in configuration such as speakers, tube output vs. SS, ability to tweak parameters, and so on. But at heart, are they essentially the same models just implemented differently?

Thanks,
Mike

Hey Mike,

The Mustang series amps contain completely different amp models than the G-DEC 3. The only thing they have in common is Fender FUSE.

Thanks for the reply, Loren.

Do you know why they went with different modelling and effects for the Mustang? The G-DEC3 is already pretty good at what it does, at least in my opinion. Are the Mustang models considered an improvement or more advanced? Hard to imagine a dramatic improvement over the G-DEC3.

Knowing that modelling technology gradually improves over time, I wonder if Fender will ever consider firmware upgrades down the road that either improve existing amp/effect models beyond what is currently possible, or add completely new ones. With an interface that is highly software based, it seems the G-DEC3 is open to such possibilities.

Saying that they have completely different amp models doesn't really answer the question: Is Fender utilizing the same modeling ENGINE and DSP in the G-DEC 3 series and in the Mustang series? Modeling different amps from the same technology base is a separate issue. The question is : are they both coming from the same G-DEC 3 Gen II Cyber engine?

The SCXD uses the last gen Cyber modeling as heard in the FM DSP amps and the original G-DEC series.

I am wondering the same thing. I know the must 3 sounds great, but would like to know if it is more advanced or just different modeling with same technology as the Gdec 3 ?

Hey Guys,

The DSP engines are very similar. I wouldn't call either one more advanced than the other.
