Hi,

Bad news. On Friday I took delivery of a new ULT-4 and it worked fine with my G-Dec 3 30 over the weekend when I used it many times. On Monday when I switched the G-Dec 3 30, the lights didn't come on the ULT-4 and it was dead.

Whilst it was working, it worked fine with several leads, so I think we can discount leads. Also I have 2 G-Decs; a 3 15, and a 3 30, It doesn't work with either so it seems it must be the ULT-4.

A further problem is that I live in the UK and bought this from the USA (UK stores don't have any - I wonder if there has been a quality recall?).

I would be grateful for your comments and recommendations as best practical way to resolve.

Regards

If you just bought it, it should be a free replacement from the vendor. Check with them first. If not, I'm sure Fender will take care of you.

Possibly, but all they can say is "send it back to us," just think about the cost of that and how long it will take. Maybe Fender know what the problem is and can make a useful suggestion to an easier resolution.
Regards,

If that's the route you want to try, then call them.

I don't know what is more cost efficient for you. I just know that the store should replace it with no additional shipping. It isn't your fault the pedal is bad under warranty. Call or e-mail them first to see if they will cover shipping for you to send it back and receive a replacement. If not, contact Fender.

Bob

This might be a simple question but did you turn the amp off and back on?

Yes I did switch it on and off. I think a quality concious company such as Fender usually becomes aware of quality problems quickly and seeks to establish and attack the route cause in order to eliminate future occurence.

If there is a weakness then I struggle to believe mine is an isolated failure.

I was hoping they might jump in and suggest getting a quick local repair through the UK dealer, or if there was a batch issue, to advise me not to get a replacement from the same batch.

I have contacted the supplier in the US, I purchased through Amazon, and looking at their policies I don't anticipate a problem, perhaps just shipping delays and squabbles over the postage charges.

Thanks

Hello General Savage,

We haven't seen any issues with the ULT-4 that would be considered out of the ordinary. Foot switches usually get moved around quite a bit more than the amps so there is always the potential for there to be a problem. Unfortunately, we don't have any authorized service centers in the UK. Your best bet is to facilitate a return through the dealer it was purchased from. If you contact them and they give you any hassle please contact us.
We'll see what we can do to help.

The retailer (bought through Amazon) has said he will ship me a new one without the need to ship the old one back. So, a big thankyou to Big Edge in FL.
