The manual tells me that I can use the rear "Guitar" socket to plug in a guitar with hot (high output) pickups. It says it should be used if your guitar distorts too easily.

My trouble is that I can't tell the difference in sound between the front and rear inputs whatever guitar I use. This is whether I'm on a low or high volume setting on the guitar

To my untrained ears my 2009 American Std Fender Strat seems to have a lower output to my ESP LTD MH-250NT but they both seem to be equal volume played through front or rear although the LTD is louder than the Strat, that's why I considered the Strat to have a lower output. My LTD blasts the amp on even a very low volume setting on some presets which is why I tried the rear input.

What order of difference do others hear when they compare the two inputs?

I'd appreciate any contribution. Thanks!

Not sure if this is the answer you are looking for, but try lowering the volume on the preset through the fuse software according to which guitar you are using at the time to compensate for the difference in outputs.

Although that's a really obvious solution I hadn't thought of it thx! I've only just got the amp so just getting around to using fuse.

I'm still wondering about the difference in the front/rear inputs though!

The rear input is supposed to be about 6dB less than the front input, but like you, I didn't notice any difference either. Loren or Alan, could you check into this for us?

Thanks!
Bob

I play a Gibson LP and it is substantially lower in volume using the rear jack, almost to the point of being inaudible when playing with other people. I don't usually need to have two guitars going through at one time though, so it really isn't an issue for me. Just wanted to throw out some more info.
