I have yet to see the GDEC go head to head with a real tube amp. Brian B and I pitted the GDEC 3 against Brian's 69 Twin. The results are surprising! Due to the 10 minute Youtube limit I had to cut a lot of the playing out but I think you get the idea.

Hi Billy,
really interesting! What were your settings on the G DEC at about 5.00 min? Could you make an upload of the preset?
Thanks?

Billy, nice demo. I'm not surprised however at how good and realistic the GDEC3 sounds. Huge improvements have been made in recent years with digital amp modeling. The hard part is getting people to believe it. Your demo is very convincing. I've always been a tube fan but also have a Cyber Deluxe amp that in a blind taste test would be very difficult for most people to tell it it isn't a tube amp. I can select the 65' Deluxe Reverb preset (#19)on it and it really does sound like a Deluxe Reverb. While I love my tube amps, I'm not going to turn a blind eye as to what is possible with todays technology. I used to gig with a Super Reverb but at 56 years old, I'm never going to lug something like that around again. An amp like the GDEC 3 is easy to move around and like in your demo is easy to mic or run thru a PA system.

I just went to preset 18 and then adjusted my knobs to match the Twin
Preset 18 - treble 6 - middle 3 - bass 6.

I realize that the video audio is compressed but I have to say that the GDEC 3 was so close to the Twin that I realized the GDEC was going to cover a lot of sonic bases for me. The other thing to consider is all the other amps the GDEC can get pretty close to. In fact I should make that my challenge - start bringing in other amps and doing this same thing. It's hard to believe (for me or anyone else) that and amp as inexpensive as the GDEC could rival a vintage 69 Twin but after a lot of A/Bing I'd say it damn sure does. I'm sure my powered PA speakers have a lot to do with it BUT the GDEC 3 is still responsible for all that great tone. The PA just allows it to flow through some bigger speakers. I guess it's time to go out and buy my XL Fender shirt so I can let my freak flag fly!
