I have found the easiest way to load an SD card is by using the computer. You can buy a card reader that plugs into the usb port of your computer for less money than you would pay for an SD card.

I agree. Just make sure you purchase a card reader that is SDHC compatible. It will say it on the packaging.

Doesn't it also work to connect your amp to the computer using the USB cable and transfer to the SD card through FUSE? That would be simpler and cheaper.

Dragoro:

No it is not mandatory, but you do not need to have an SD card reader on your computer. Just attach the cable from the amp to the computer, put the amp in USB mode (it is in the utility menu). Once it is in USB mode, the SD Card AND the G-Dec built in drive will appear as a drives on your desktop. You can drag and drop files to the folders on the SD card just like any other drive. The SD cards are very handy because you can fit a LOT of stuff on a 8GB SD Card!

The same holds true with the built in drive on the amp but it might already be pretty close to full already.

The only thing bad about loading songs onto an SD card using your amp via USB to your computer is that it takes FOREVER to complete the transfers. I admit that I prefer using Wave files to mp3 files and the Wave files are quite a bit larger, but when I start to transfer about 110 Wave format backing tracks (the minimum I like to take to a gig) to an SD card in the amp it can take 6-8 HOURS to complete. I usually start the transfer just before I got to bed, hoping that when I get up in the morning all will have transferred.

I haven't had any luck transferring files to an SD card through the slot in my computer, even after the amp has "formatted" the card. Nothing ever seems to work right if I go that route. BTW, I am using Windows XP3 and a fairly new computer. Everything is great except the long, long time that transfer takes.

Hello Dennis,

You definitely should be able to utilize the card reader built into your computer. Have you ever used it with any other SD cards?

Now you have me wondering. I transferred a Gigabyte of files to an SD card using the card slot on my wife's iMac and it took just a shade over 6 minutes. I wonder how long that would take with the G-Dec hooked to the iMac? Maybe I will try that tonight....
