I have now had a G-DEC 3 for a little over a month and like a lot of things about it. Unfortunately I am also noticing lots of shortcomings that make it frustrating to use or just don't work as advertised. Here is a list of improvements and new feature requests I hope Fender will implemented in future firmware/software updates.

What are the things you think need fixed or improved?

1. Improve user interface so it is easier to use.
2. Improve file system to work with nested folders and other modern standards
3. Improve the track slowdown feature. Currently this feature sounds terrible and is basically unusable in my opinion. Try downloading the demo of the "Amazing Slow Downer" for an example of how it should sound.
4. A/B Looping: Add an easy way to loop sections of a song.
5. Basic standard transport controls for backing track playback.
6. Start the amp where I left off. If I turn the amp off while on preset 53, start me at 53 when I turn it back on.
7. Improve FUSE software. As is it is very clunky and buggy and seems to follow few usability standards. It would also be great to have an easy way to reorganize presets on the amp with FUSE.
8. Address noise issues on some presets, amp models and effects.
9. Allow recording to an SD card until full
10. Add the function to have a preset bank on the SD card, or at least make presets on the SD card easy to access.
11. Improve current amps and effects and add new ones :D

I agree 100 percent with every one of them; however, Fender's response has been zero... unless you consider "we'll pass them on to the engineers" to be a step in the right direction. To my knowledge, not a single suggestion has ever been implemented.

fully agree!
Especially to points 2, 4, 5 and 9.
Point 6 would be nice too.

Sad to hear that the slowdown feature doesn't work as good as on a PC.
I'm still be waiting for the next firmware update before I buy...

12. Ability to access the three QA Presets with the foot switch or touch buttons from Preset Mode without it stopping playback of assigned backing track and starting new backing track from the new QA preset. We need to be able to finish the song in progress AND be able to change the QA presets during the song. This is a major performance flaw.
13. Ability to assign 3 unique QA Presets per Amp Preset, with the ability to change to the QA Presets WITHOUT stopping playback of the current backing track.
14. Setlist or Playlist feature.

13+. Pass a completely unprocessed/raw signal via USB to a computer so I can actually use Amplitube Fender LE (or any other computer guitar modeler) the way it is supposed to be used, with a unprocessed raw signal. Currently you do not have a choice but to double model/process your signal. Once on the G-DEC and once in Amplitube and this does not sound good or work well.

I agree with all of these. It would make a killer amp if it had these improvements! I was completely unaware of suggestion/issue 12!

Due to the fact I have an old Mac using a PowerPC processor which Fuse/Fender does not support, I can't quickly and easily access the effects. So, I think it's a pain when making effects adjustments from the amp to have to scroll through each effect (stompbox, modulation, delay, reverb) and their settings, just to get to one that's further on down the chain/menu to make adjustments. I think there should be a main effects screen or home screen so that you can quickly select the effect you want to modify right off the bat from the amp.

#12/13 are somewhat similar to a function on the Boss eBand. It can assign two different guitar presets for each song that can be accessed by pushing the "Solo" button or via a foot pedal. It was a really nice well thought out feature of the eBand. It would be great to have something similar to 12/13/eBand on the G-DEC 3.

I agree with all suggestions so far.
I have some others to add. On the old GDEC 30 I was able to take the guitar ouput through the headphone socket and feed it to a PA. I could also feed the line out set for BAND only through to separate channels on the PA. This enabled me to have totally separate EQ or studio effects for guitar and band.

The new GDEC 3 30 will allow you to line out BAND only as before but now when setting SPEAKER to Guitar the headphone socket mysteriously mixes in the Band! This is despite when you listen on speaker only you do indeed get guitar only.

Not sure if this could be done in software as it probably is more a hardware issue.

I also miss SONG mode giving the QA1, QA2 and QA3 settings for a song. These two issues alone make the new GDEC 3 30 take a backwards step.

However, a good point :D, I do find that humbucker equipped guitars no longer distort the A to D convertors (they do on the original GDEC - check it out on a clean setting!). The sounds attainable with the noise gate are far better than the original and can easily be recorded in the studio.

Looping needs a lot of careful attention as you have to make sure you get the output level set correctly. Otherwise first loop and then playback is too LOUD. I find I have to set the output (which comes through wherever you have sent GUITAR but independent of the VOLUME pot!) to about 4.5 if I have set the VOLUME at 3. Also loops are in mono only. It would be nice to maintain stereo.

Another issue is the AMBIENCE setting. It appears to be mono only. The original GDEC was definitely stereo and a very usable effect.

Please reinstate or address all these issues Mr Fender  .

How about 100 Factory presets and 100 User presets. I don't like the fact I have to replace the factory presets on the amp.

I'm betting that last one would require a hardware (read: new amp) upgrade.

Just posted this on the Fuse Forum.

How about a version of Fuse that can run on an iPad, iPhone and an iPod Touch? How convenient would that be!!? You could place your iPhone or iPod Touch right on top of the GDEC, or the iPad next to it. No mouse to change parameters, etc. The touchscreen would be so much easier. Also, it would make a nice option for those who have Power PC Macs in which Fuse is not compatible/supported. For those, like myself, who can't splurge on a new Mac laptop ($1200 plus) or Mac Mini (600 plus) just to have a running version of Fuse, grabbing an iPod Touch ($180 plus) is much more economical. Presets and band tracks might be a snap to upload and download. With Fender's current partnership with IK Multimedia, who just released the iRig for these devices, I think this is hugely possible. On a larger scale, create versions of Fuse to run on other similar mobile devices (don't want to exclude anyone).

Just a thought.
