Hi All,

I am brand new to the G-DEC 3 Thirty. I reviewed some threads and the manual. I understand that the amp supports both MP3 & WAV files, either of which needs to be placed in the "Audio" folder.

HOWEVER, can someone confirm that this unit will not allow you to create & access sub-folders in the Audio folder. That is, did Fender forget that we might want to organize some of our personal backing tracks into sub folders so that we can quickly access a specific set of tracks? For example, blues, rock, country, metal, etc, tracks in their own respective folder so you do not need to scroll through every single MP3/WAV that you might have on the SD to find the one that you want?!!!

Please tell me that I am missing something and that Fender adopted some sort of basic ability to file songs on the SD that simply escapes me.

Of course, if my post turns out to be the ranting of an uninformed, new user, I welcome any insight to my concerns and apologize for my ignorance.

Otherwise, can a Fender moderator please explain when we could expect what is a basic component of any modern file system? I would really appreciate an explanation.

Thank you!
Frank

It's Sad but True. I have lobbied for many things such as subfolders and setlists etc. The moderators say they are passing suggestions and feedback on to the development team so we'll just have to see what happens. I really love the amp but there are many simple things that would make it so much better.

Take care,

Thanks for the insight. So, apparently something as simple as folders was missed...too bad...

Agree with you though; just bought the amp yesterday and played it nearly all day. Absolutely love it. Can't believe how good it sounds for a solid state, do everything practice amp. Definitely a huge improvement over previous versions of the G-DEC. I returned the original G-DEC & G-DEC 30, but I will be keeping this one. Guess 3rd time is truly a charm... :)

Hopefully development will fix some of the short comings through firmware upgrades...

I also hope Fender will put out firmware updates that really improve the G-DEC 3. I will be put off on Fender if major improvements supported by the current G-DEC 3 hardware are reserved for the G-DEC 4.

Folks, it would be great, but it is a waste of time. It won't happen, Fender is not going to give something away that should have been part of this product, they're going to come out with a new and improved model in six months and sell it all over again. And those of us who purchased this amp on good faith it was what was promised, well, we should have known better. That's why you can't get a straight answer to any issue from these folks, they know what the score is and they're just covering their butts. If they were honest about things, they'd probably be fired.

I am really hoping that you are wrong. Line 6 and other companies make major updates and improvements to their products with software updates if the hardware can support it. I will shy away from Fender products in the future if they do not do the same. Especially since there are so many little improvements that could really make the G-DEC 3 more enjoyable to use.

Fender, are you listening? Any response?

What does everyone else think?

I do not know what the brilliant minds at Fender are thinking regarding this matter but the fact is that no one from Fender has responded to this post in any way.... that is not comforting.

No, certainly not comforting, but not surprising. This is the same outfit that said in May it was making "continuous" additions to the backing tracks section on the G-Dec site. To my knowledge, and please, Fender if I am wrong, let me know, has not added a single track since the amp was released.

I, too, like the amp; it's Fender's two-stepping and excuse-making that I find distasteful.

Terrible to say, but amps of this type are "just another appliance" these days, and soon outdated and therefore disposable.

Think IPd, IPhone, even DVD players ( now need to update for Blu-Ray) or TV ( need to update for 3d) etc.

Manufacturers are no longer consumer driven - the Consumer is now driven by the Manufacturers ( ie "need to have the latest and greates).

Thankfully, as long as there are tubes/valves available there will always be amps that last a lifetime.

Nevertheless, I'll probably buy a G-Dec 3 myself when I finally get to actually try one. It appears that the Thirty has finally been released in Australia.

Hey Guys,

I apologize for the delay here. Sometimes posts can slip through the cracks. Thank you for bringing this one back to the top.
Apparently, some of you feel like we aren't listening to feature requests. Ironically, some of the feature request and suggestions that have been made have made it into versions of Fender FUSE and G-DEC firmware currently being tested and other future versions. We really appreciate your patience while we finish testing and prepare for release.
We are and always have been focused on making this amp and software combination the best that it can be. We have also been focused on taking care of customers and providing great customer service. When we are accused of making excuses and not being honest with customers, we take that very seriously. We would never lie or even bend the truth a little to sell more amps.

Very negative thread this one - where's the positive energy?

I trust that Fender will be doing all they can to give users improvements and that all constructive suggestions will be heard.

Just my sixpennyworth :)

You are right, lots of negativity here but it's understandable because they just released version 2 of Fuse and except for some bug fixes nothing of substance has been added or improved s far as I can see.

Now a days all companies talk the customer service talk but when it comes time to walk the walk they just keep talking. This seems to be the American corporate way these days.

Of course Fender can easily quell this negativity and prove me wrong by simply giving us an update with some of the actual, real world functionality improvements that have been requested. I don't mind being wrong sometimes but I seldom am....we will see.
