I'm using a standard US Stratocaster and an other guitar (Casio MG510 with a midi pickup made by Ibanez) and a humbucking pickup and there is a big difference in sound. So I'd be interested to read posts about the sounds you get with your equipment...Fender...others...
Thanks.

The first week that I had the G-Dec 3, I used it with my Fender MIM Stratocaster(all single coil pickups). I was very happy with the tone right from the beginning. After about a week, I decided to switch to the Gibson Les Paul Traditional plus (stock 57 humbuckers). The difference in tone really knocked my socks off and I have spent at least 95% of my practice time using the LP.

A good amp responds to any difference in volume, pick attack, guitar & tone settings. In that regard, the G-DEC 3 is a great amp! It's the most responsive solid state amp I've EVER used.

Tonight, I fine-tuned the Boston preset that I uploaded last week, and now it's ready for the critics! What control the G-DEC 3 gives us over our tone! WOW!!!

I've found that with many (most) of the overdriven guitar tones in the 3 Thirty that my single coil guitars howl at me too much for my taste. In the 2nd and 4th switch positions things get quieter, of course, but I like all five positions to be totally functional without squeals and shrieks.

That said, much as I like my Strats and Teles, I prefer to use humbuckers with the new amp if I am using many of the preset tones. I have a '71 Thinline reissue with HBs, a five-year-old Tele custom with HBs and a bunch of other HB equipped guitars, so it doesn't have to be an issue. That said, I still intend to replace most of the overdriven tones that came with the 3 Thirty. I guess I'm just getting old...

I use a MM Powerhouse Strat and a Custom Shop Eric Clapton. Just got the amp last week. One of the first things I did was cut back on some of the gain and bring up the noise gate threshhold until the noise stopped. It helped quite a bit and didn't seem to effect the overall sound.
