I recently purchased a G-DEC 3 and like alot of things about it. But some of the presets are incredibly and annoyingly noisy. It seems all the noise comes from the effects and the more effects in use the worse it gets. Can this be fixed with a firmware update? Seems more like poor programming to me than limitations of the hardware.

Hi,

Could you give the name of one of these presets ? I will check with my amp.

I would say most of the hi gain presets or ones with a large number of effects would classify as noisy, but to name one "Wylde Chylde". I have seen a number of others on the internet complaining about this same problem, so I know it is not a complaint unique to me. The noise really stands out if you A-B compare the G-DEC 3 with something like the Boss JS-8 eBand.

You may want to try adjusting the noise gate settings using Fender FUSE. Setting the noise gate to "Super" really quiets some of the hi gain presets.

I tried the noise gate and it did what was expected. It quieted down things when I am not playing and slightly changed the sound and sustain. But it did not reduced the digital noise or harshness that some presets have that I think are coming from the effects.

So back to my original question. Can or will Fender make major improvements to the G-DEC 3 like polishing the tones and effects or adding new stuff with firmware updates or will improvements be reserved for G-DEC 4?
