I want to purchase a modeling amp. I have looked at Fender, Line 6, Vox, and Peavey. I want an amp that can support 2 guitar inputs. Fender G-DEC 3 is the only one that has this ability. I could, however, use a splitter. What advantages does a G-DEC have over all other modeling amps? One thing I liked about Line 6 was their GuitarPort online. Does Fender have a similar program or website?

Thanks for looking,

Civman

The FUSE community is similar and the G-DEC 3 has much better tone than the Line 6 stuff. I have a JM4 Looper, which is the brains of the Spider Jam without the amp & speakers, and it doesn't sound near as responsive to volume and playing technique as the G-DEC 3. There are a lot of reasons that the Fender is better, but tone is the most important.

The Vox VT-series amps also sound very good, but don't have all the editing & download/upload capabilities of the Fender. I own one of the first series of Vox Valvetronix amps and wouldn't trade it, but it won't do much of what my G-DEC 3 does.

Have fun with whatever you decide!
Bob

I do not think that you will be disappointed with the G-Dec 3 30 watt. Yes it does have support for two guitars and a Fuse community for uploading and downloading presets and backing tracks. Additionally, I think the Amplitube and Ableton Live software add a lot of functionality even if they are scaled down versions. Also, save your back and get an amp stand like this one (http://www.guitarcenter.com/On-Stage-Stands-RS7000-Tiltback-AMP-STAND-100233584-i1175214.gc).

'Have had a Line 6 Vetta I HD / 412 slant cab and longboard for 5 1/2 years and it is a fantastic amp. Gobs of amp and cab models and ability to play settings-and-effects-galore. And massive power as well as cleanliness at low power.

Hippest thing is the being able to "use 2 amps at once" and the guitar "double tracker" which alllows you to "have a second guitarist" playing with you and have "their" tuning, timing and intensity a bit different than yours.

That said, 'just today bought a G-Dec 3-30 and so far it's tres beaucoup okay.

EDIT:

The G Dec 3 30 was returned in favour of a Line 6 Spider Jam. In this opinion, the Spider Jam is as excellent as its name is stupid-sounding. Slpendid amp!

I just watched a youtube video of the Line 6 Vetta HD and you are right, it is impressive! Not sure how much the setup in the video cost but from listening to the output, it is definitely worth looking into.

By the way, the video I watched is below. The difference in tone from the beginning and the one starting around the 50 second mark really got my attention.

He's using the two amps at once feature but not Double Tracker. It's the fourth button from the left on the bottom right row.

I bought a GDEC 30 to replace a deceased Vox Valvetronix.

It sold itself to me in the shop because of the presets and the jamtracks.

However, now I've had it at home for a few weeks and the novelty's worn off, I'm getting frustrated with having to plug into a laptop/PC (which seems unstable and unreliable alot of the time) to properly adjust the sound.

Without the PC, even a minor tweak to, say, gain takes a delve into a number of menus, not good for the creative flow.

Don't get me wrong, its a great amp and it sounds good, but make sure the whole 'connectivity' thing is what you're looking for. If you want a 'plug and play' practice amp, you should consider others too IMO.

Personal opinion on this is similar (see above edit.

Line 6's Spider Jam is amazing and sounds much "bigger" than a practice amp, plus, it'll take a bass in the input jack and has...maybe 3 or 4times the capability of the G Dec 3 30.

Stick an American Standard Stratocaster into a Spider Jam and make up your own mind.

I like the Line 6 amps.
Seem to see a lot of G-Dec threads here that point to issues with them.

My 2 Euros,
