I have the 15, and it is perfect for what I want. "Real" guitar sounds at low volumes. I live in an apartment and appreciate that I am able to do this. Love to tweak sounds. Fairly intuitive. Would unquestionable recommend this as a practice amp. I amp very pleased....................

FWIW. While I wait for my G to be fixed I bought a BOSS ME-70 - as it gives me a looper and I can use it for CD/MP3 in and phones.

I'd forgotten how dreadful these thing sound. Soooo digital - I feel like my ears have been abused. It's back in the box marked 'to be returned'.

Anyway... for anybody who thinks the G-Dec 3 30 doesn't have a great sound, I recommend you try one of these first... you'll soon be thinking the G, in comparison, is like a pure mountain stream to the ears! (Well, you know what I mean.)

I've been playing with my G-DEC 3 for two weeks now, and I can't believe anyone would have a problem getting a great sound out of theirs. I didn't think I'd find a modeling amp that would be as good or better than my Vox AD60VTX (1st series Valvetronix), but the G-DEC 3 Thirty delivers, and then some!

After playing around a little, creating good presets is easy, and it's great being able to find so many good backing tracks to download and play along with. What a way to keep my chops up!

I have to admit I haven't even tried Ableton or Amplitube yet, as I've been enjoying the amp and FUSE so much!

Keep up the good work Fender!

The other thing I forgot to mention about my little ME-70 experiment was that, if you bring in a backing track through the aux in, the guitar sounds like it's in a different room to the backing track. Unlike the G (and I think someone else mentioned it) where you feel like you're really part of the mix.

I've only had mine a couple of days but I love everything about it. I would without hesitation recommend it. Great tone and unlimited possibilities. An excellent product. Just read a nice review in Vintage Guitar magazine. Their reviewer was very impressed.

I am currently trying out both the G-DEC 3 and the Boss JS-8 eBand. I still need to spend more time with both, but here are a few of my initial impressions.

Presets: While both have some really good tones, the eBand has more good and completely usable tones out of the box. The G-DEC has way to many why? tones.

NOISE: Some of the presets on the G-DEC 3 are incredibly/annoyingly noisy. It seems the more effects a preset has the more noise it creates. My question to Fender, can this be addressed in a firmware update? Seems like bad programming to me.

Speakers: The speakers in the eBand are barely adequate at best. If I return the eBand it will be because of the pathetic, very low volume speakers. The eBand really needs to be played through headphones or plugged into a stereo, PA or studio monitors to sound great. The G-DEC 3 sounds pretty good through its speakers.

Effects: The quality of the effects on the eBand are head and shoulders above the G-DEC 3 IMHO. Again I am wondering if Fender could fix this in a firmware update?

Home Recording Studio Usage: The eBand is the big winner here. The eBand has a number of USB connection options including sending a completely clean/RAW signal to your computer recording software while playing you your favorite preset for inspiration. You can then reamp the recorded RAW sound with the eBand or use something like Amplitube to reamp the sound. Also works with microphones. Really nice and functional features for a cheap home recording studio.

User Interface: eBand also wins here. The eBand is overall just easier to get around and understand. Little things like having presets organized by styles (Jazz, Rock, 70's Hard Rock, etc.) and having a button for A-B looping tracks are really beneficial and easy to use.

User Community: G-DEC wins big here. The eBand has no community for sharing ideas or presets.

Future Proof: Fender has Fuse and has released a few firmware updates. The big question I have for Fender is if they will address some of these issues with a firmware update?

As of now I am undecided on what to keep.

After spending another week or so with both the G-DEC 3 Thirty and Boss eBand, I decided to keep the G-DEC and return the eBand. My decision comes down to mostly that the G-DEC is an amp that can sound pretty darn good, with the right presets, all by itself. The only way I could get the eBand to sound nearly as good was hooked up to my $2000+ stereo, and that is a headache I don't feel like dealing with. It also helped that I was able to create or find some pretty good presets via FUSE to replace some of my least favorite factory presets. With these new presets I found I prefer the G-DEC's overall sound quality to the eBand.

Most of my other observations in the post before still stand. Some presets on the G-DEC are horribly noisy. The eBand is easier to use, has a much better interface, the effects are better and it is better for a home studio. So depending on your needs, it might still be a better option. For me having a all in one amp/practice/jamming tool won the day. I hope my experience helps others.

I also hope Fender will address some of the shortcomings of the G-DEC 3 with future firmware updates.

I've owned all the G-DEC models, and absolutely hated the new 3 Fifteen model! Controls were a nightmare, presets were mostly unusable, I could not change keys easily, and quickly returned it. I've bought 2 more Model 2 G-DEC's since and plan to hold on to them! Unbelieveable retrograde performance by Fender this time. I should have tried one at the store before buying on eBay!
