I am thinking about pulling the trigger and buying one. What's the general feeling about these?

Is it "as described" "less than described" or "even better than the descriptions"?

Did you choose the 15 or 30?

Do you feel like you made the right choice?

paztormike:

I have the G-Dec 3 thirty watt version and I could not be happier. I have, but never really liked my VOX AD50VT and I was looking for something with a good clean Fender sound. The G-Dec 3 has that but so much more. The ability to play along with the band, the effects, and the use of FUSE and Amplitube are great additions to the amp.

I have not looked at the 15 watt version so I am not really sure just how much of a difference the extra 15 watts and the tweeter make but I will say that the one I have (30 watt) sounds nice and full to my ears. I am very happy with my purchase and recommend it without reservation (can't say the same for the VOX).

Definitely happy. It's definitely as described. I spent a lot of time looking over the specs, the manuals, and the demo videos. I wasn't thrilled with most of the presets, but once I found a couple that I liked and tweaked them to taste, I would say that the amp's sound exceeded my expectations.

Can I think of cool things that they could add? Sure. But it is pretty darned good at doing what it was advertised as doing.

I can't bear to think of think of what life would be like without my GDEC 30 and my newer GDEC 3 30. The amp's abilities with band tracks and patches allow me to be more creative and have fun on a daily basis. This leads to many more enjoyable hours of FUN practice. I wouldn't be anywhere near the level I am today with the Guitar without these amps..

Both the GDEC 30 and the GDEC 3 30 exceed my expectations on a daily basis. If I were any more happy with them... I'd consider them my children... :)

I have the G-Dec3 fifteen. I only play at home and have it very quiet ( so that I dont wake up the kids :) ).

I had a few initial issues setting it up ( with Windows 7) but mainly down to it being a new product for me ( both G-Dec and Win7 !)

Been running for a while now and I do like it very much. I would recommend it.

I've only had my G-DEC 3 Thirty for 3 days, but I must say, not only does the amp sound and work great, but Fender support is excellent, as well. I couldn't figure out some things, and the tech answered my questions quickly and accurately! I deal with customer support for my business, and I've never encountered a more satisfying experience with tech support!

I couldn't even sleep last night, because I was thinking about all the backing tracks I could put on my SD card to use with the wonderful tones in this amp!

Needless to say, I love it, and I highly recommend it!

I have the G-Dec 15 and I love this amp. The price point is great. Do not gig so no feedback there. The sounds and Features are fantastic. The only draw backs I find with the 15 is that some backing tracks that I have loaded sound like they are missing some frequencies and no line out. The 30 I believe takes care of both of theses with the extra speaker and the line outs. Having said that I have a twin and a princeton but since April when I got this amp I have not turn either on which just isnt right. One thing I would like to change that has nothing to due with the amp is when presets are upload I would like to see maybe if its set for a single coil or a humbucker. I play fender guitars and amps but I'm having trouble finding a classic LP through a Marshall sound. I think it's hard to discribe what a preset sound is good for without knowing what type of guitar you are useing.:D

Here are my initial thoughts.

I'm a technophobe... I avoid technology unless I really need it, but I wanted a 'do-it-all' home practice tool that I could hook up to my laptop for backing tracks, that had a looper, headphones, some amps sims and effects. So I got a G-Dec 3 30 (last week).

My first thoughts were that I'd made a mistake... I prefer knobs and simple menus and I quickly started looking at the Line 6 M9, an RC-2 looper (which I'm familiar with) and a VOX VT30 (or something similarly 'tubey') as an alternative to the G-Dec.

Then - as I was heading out of the door to return the G Dec - I hesitated, decided to get a grip, give the G a chance, change my attitude a little... read the flipping manuals (downloads), spend a bit more time with it.

Now, a few days on, I'm glad I stuck with it. It's really not that difficult to use - even for an old git like me! When you tweak it and find the sounds you like, they are excellent (I'm over comparing it to a tube amp) and the speaker/tweeter combination renders backing tracks better than any other guitar amp I've heard.

For what I need (and desire), it has to be the best practice package available... and for the price it's a complete no-brainer. Go out and buy one!

You guys keep praising this amp and I'm going to have to break down and purchase one. Sounds like a great practice tool!

some people may be easier to please than others. as with any new product, there are issues and plenty of them. i already owned the blues jr. and for just 100 readies more you can have a real tube amp. i don't think i would purchase it again had i known then what i know now.

that's not to say there's anything wrong with the product, but i thinnk it will soon be evident that there are a few issues here that really need to be addressed.

Comparing the G-Dec to a Blues Junior is like comparing apples to oranges... pointless.

Nothing to do with "easily pleased". I have a Toyota truck... what you suggest is like me saying "for 1000 more I could have bought a Porsche Boxster", but the truck is versatility personified - it takes my bikes, the family and the dog, my kayaks and canoes and any other junk I want to cart around in it. (My wife drives the Porsche Boxster...- a Blues Junior of a car - it's nice to have both.)

Saying it costs only 100 more for a tube amp is missing the point my friend. You obviously have no need for a G-Dec... the Toyota truck of amps!!!
:D

Gee, I really did miss the point. I love the amp, it is like my child, I would rush out and buy it... no, I'd by two. I take that back, I'd buy three.

VerySlow I agree with you but it's Fenders and Fords they belong together.
Sorry could not help myself.

Poll result: .00000001% of people found that post useful (joking - I appreciate the sarcasm, so let's call it quits eh?)...

So back to answering OP's question...

... you never actually said what you thought was wrong with the G-Dec - other than that it's not a tube amp. I'd be interested to hear what 'issues' you have with it (really CL... I'm not being sarcastic).

Here's mine: Power PC Macs are not supported by Fender Fuse and Fender have no plans to do so. Also, on my wife's new laptop OS X 10.6.4 Fuse just hangs... can't get it to start.

Whether this is a deal breaker I'm trying to decide, but I think Fender should make the Mac limitations clearer - and not just in obscure posts on the forums.

I might sell and buy something like a... er BJ...
