Hi Kelvin,
I have played keyboards for over twenty years now.. A lot longer than I've been learning guitar... (2 years).

If you are just starting out, I have a few suggestions.
1) Keep it simple at first. Learn the notes and the scales.
2) John Thompson has some really good introductory books with practice illustrations and simple songs to learn at first. Many people want to jump in and play all the fun stuff quickly and first. But I recommend being patient and spending some time learning music theory such as that taught in the John Thompson series.
3) If you'd rather have multimedia, there are multitudes of computer software and lesson DVDs out there. Find a good music store and ask for a recommendation as to which one you should pick up.
4) If you are really, really serious about playing keyboards, the best way to learn is the old fashion way. Lessons. Again find a good music store and ask if they have someone or can refer you to someone that teaches keyboards.

Just my thoughts and suggestions..
Hope this helps,
Randy
