So I understand, it is NOT possible to preview a preset (xxx.fuse) through Amplitude or Ableton UNLESS the amp is connected? Wouldn't it be a good idea to develop a function to play Fuse files through the computer? I don't have a stand-alone computer so I can't have my G-DEC 3 Thirty connected. Maybe there is another way?
Thanks

Hey Clifford,

Maybe the distinction between Fender FUSE, the amp, and AmpliTube haven't been made as clear as they could be. AmpliTube Fender LE is a standalone program that models classic Fender amps. The only relationship between AmpliTube and the G-DEC 3 is that the G-DEC can function as an audio interface for AmpliTube or any other ASIO (PC) or Core Audio (Mac) compatible app. Presets from one can't be imported on the other. AmpliTube also has no relationship with Fender FUSE whatsoever.

Fender FUSE on the other hand was designed to be a graphical "front end" for the G-DEC 3. Instead of tweaking Presets on the G-DEC's screen, Fender FUSE gives you a big shiny graphical representation of amp models and effects and also provides Preset and Band Track organization. Fender FUSE has no Presets nor does it handle any audio. It only controls the functions of the amp. This is why the amp must be connected to use Fender FUSE for anything other than downloading and uploading Band Tracks and Presets.

Ableton Live is kind of in the same boat as AmpliTube. It's only relationship to the amp is that it can use the amp as an audio interface. It has zero relationship with any amp Presets or Fender FUSE. It functions as a DAW (digital audio workstation) just like Pro Tools or Cubase does but Live is more suited to loop-based music than either of those apps. AmpliTube Fender LE can function as a VST or AU (Mac) plug in inside of Ableton Live Lite 8 Fender Edition.

What exactly do you mean when you say standalone computer? If you don't have a computer, that's fine. You can use the amp without being connected to Fender FUSE but you would be missing out on the Fender FUSE community and the downloadable content such as Presets and new Band Tracks.

I hope that helps.

Loren

By standalone computer, I mean one that is exclusively mine... I share with wife. So in that regard, I do have access to the computer. Thanks for the explanation, I'm getting a clearer picture now.
