First post here........

Although I've played a lot of years, it's mostly just for fun at home these days. After seeing Gary Hoey do a demo/promo at a local shop last week, I'm quite interested in the new GDEC series. I know the Thirty model has a line out and the Fifteen does not. At this point I'm most interested in the backing tracks. The Fifteen would meet most of my needs but occasionally I might like to run it through one of my larger amps - DRRI, SFDR, SFSR, etc.

So, my question is whether there is a way to do this without any damage - perhaps using the headphone jack as a line out to the larger amp? I'm assuming a simple daisy chain setup would only produce my guitar sound in the second amp.

Thanks in advance! :)

In order to use a Fender G-DEC 3 in this way, I would recommend that you probably would want to go with the Thirty, due to it's Line outputs, and the ability to control the level of these outputs via the Utility menu on the Fender G-DEC 3 Thirty.

You might also want to keep in mind that ideally you would want a line/aux input on another larger amp. But you could certainly try some things out, perhaps at your local Fender dealer. Possibly the headphone out could work on the G-DEC 3 Fifteen as well. It will probably take some testing to confirm.

I hope this helps.

Really appreciate the response, Alan. The Thirty would certainly fit the bill but I was hoping that the Fifteen might be an option for this application. Perhaps someone else has tried this.........??

I got out to a powered PA speaker (Behringer 400 watt). It sound REALLY good and that added 12 inch speaker along with the amp sounds great. I highly suggest it! I have not tried this through a tube amp but will in the morning. Also - with stereo out I wonder if I could make the sound swirl between the 2 or 3 speakers?

So, Billy - did you use the headphone jack for your line out? I'll be very interestd in how you make out running to tube amp - how you did it, how it sounds, etc. Thanks! :)

I run the stereo out of the 30 to the PA. I think head phone out would work fine as well. The tube amp was not as nice as I had hoped. The G-Dec 3 needs more of a PA to reproduce the sound it creates than an actual amp and when I went line out to my tube amp it sounded pretty bad. I will reiterate that out to a powered PA speaker sounds GREAT.

I don't know what those acronyms you were using above but I went into the quiet input of the main channel of a seventies twin. Stuck a backing track on, eq'ed until it sounded as flat as is possible through a valve combo then played.

Sounded great!

davereplicant,
What I was referring to:

DRRI = Deluxe Reverb Reissue
SFDR = Silverface Deluxe Reverb (mid 70's)
SFSR = Silverface Super Reverb(mid 70s)

So......did you actually run a GDEC3 Fifteen model directly into your Twin Reverb(SFTR) and if so, how did you do it - from the headphone jack? If so, that's exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks! :)
