Just got a new G-Dec 30. Is the TAP button supposed to flash or do I have a loose connection in the unit?
Thanks

Hey Guys,

Don't worry. The flashing TAP button is actually a feature of the amp. It flashes in time with the delay time of a preset. Notice how it only flashes when a preset with a delay is loaded. You can set the delay time by tapping the Tap button to the speed you want.

Keep in mind that some delay effects have shorter delay times than others.

That answered my last question, as I also thought it was a loose connection fault on the TAP button.

Just thought I would mention one other issue that I found. My computer circuit is different from amp circuit. So when I connected the USB cable, a significant ground loop occured, causing 60 cycle hum. Plugging both into the same outlet solved the problem.

OK I know I am going to sound stupid since I am new to guitar, but what is a delay that is being set on the Tap button?

A delay is a time based effect, similar to an echo but not quite an echo. Check out this KB article on the G-DEC 3's effects.
