I have an original G-Dec. I have wanted to update the version from v1.002 to the updated v.103.03 or whatever the actual numbers are.

I have a midi joystick adapter connection. I follow the instructions, at the beginning after hitting save twice, the tuner light starts to flash?? I'm wondering why. The gdec says that it getting ready to download, then has "ready for midi update" and under that it says "exit to reboot".

The program starts a nd seems to run smoothly, I'll get "updating G-DEC host, and any other commands I expect to be normal. However at the end it will say "update complete, amp will exit to reboot?" The amp will still say "ready for midi update" & also "exit to reboot"

The way the computer command is phrased indicates that the exit & reboot is an automated , or computer activated function, but it sits & does nothing. The amp still has "ready for midi updates , & exit to reboot.

I have tried after the process has completed & gave ample time for the computer to reboot the amp, I turn the amp off, & I still have the old format v1.02.002 or whatever.

Does anybody have ideas? I'm running on a dell system windows xp sp2 I have the gdec on my f drive (xtra hard drive) the cables are turtle beach voyetra. joystick adapter...the connections are in-in out-out...

Once again....any ideas or solutions would be great!!! thanks

It sounds like the G-DEC is not receiving any data from the application because if the amp was receiving the update you would see a progress bar on the LCD. Your message appears to indicate that your MIDI cables are reversed. MIDI out from the PC should be connected to the Midi input jack on the G-DEC, and the MIDI out from the G-DEC should be connected to the PC's MIDI in.

If that is not the problem try going in to the "Sounds and Audio Devices" section of the windows control panel, select the audio tab on the properties window, and verify that the "MIDI music playback" options default device is set to your hardware. Click apply and then try and restart the update utility.
