i put my SD card in my amp a few weeks ago it formatted and i put the mp3 backing tracks i had on it , i just tried adding more mp3's and only some are showing up when i put the card back into the amp .I took it out and deleted the files and copied them again and the the ones that were showing up before are not showing up anymore, the tracks i had on the card when i first had the card formatted first formatted were always showing up it just new ones that i added thats the problem.I ended up having to wipe the SD card clean and let the amp format it again then copy the files over again. just wondering if anyone else had the same problem and may have found out what was causing it or how to avoid it. would really hate to have to format the card everytime i want to add anything to the card .the amp is worth the minor inconvenience but would like to avoid the hassle if possible . thanks in advance to anyone who can help me figure it out

Hey ExiledChaos,

How are you formatting the SD card? The recommended format for the G-DEC 3 is FAT 32. Are you on Windows or Mac OS?

i'm interested in this too: i have a 27" iMac with SD Card slot built in. I formatted 3 different cards in the Mac: all were then "unreadable" when plugged into my G-Dec 30. the amp actually reported "card not found."

I even tried formatting the card using Windows 7, via Parallels and via Bootcamp: it still would not read when plugged into the amp.

so, I tried this: I put the card(s) in my Canon G9 Digital Camera, and formatted them with the camera: then they appeared in the amp fine and worked perfectly.

I guess there is something with the card reader on the mac causing the issue: all the cards worked fine when formatted by my camera.

Incidentally, the cards were all readable on the mac when formatted in the built in SD Card slot, just not readable in the amp. very strange.

if there are any additional things you'd like me to try, please feel free!

thanks,
Don

Hey Don,

The formatting for G-DEC 3 SD cards on a Mac is a little different than on a PC. This is due to the Mac OS file system being different than the windows file system. To format your SD card on a Mac for use with the G-DEC 3, just follow these steps.

1. Open Disk Utility and select the drive you would like to format in the pane on the left.
2. Click the "Partition" button and under "Volume Scheme" select "1 Partition"
3. Click the "Options" button below and select "Master Boot Record" then click
"OK"
4. Under "Volume Information" name your SD card if you like and select "MS-DOS (FAT)" and click apply.

Your card should now be formatted to work with the G-DEC 3.

I purchased a 4 gig SDHC card yesterday. I tried everything and the G-Dec 3 Thirty would not recognize the card. So word of warning. Does this make me like the G-Dec 3 any less? NO, love it.

Hey Billy,

What brand is the card? We have seen some compatibility issues with some Kingston cards. At this time we are recommending Sandisk SD cards because we have never had an issue with them.

Hi Loren,

confirmed, my SD Cards were formatted with Guid Partition Map and not MBR when done on my Mac. repartitioning with MBR selected resolved.

it's interesting that formatting under Windows 7 left the guid partition map intact... i guess the windows format left the partition structure alone.

thanks!

My SDHC cards were scandisk. I'd love to get one working if anyone has any tricks. My standard 1 gig SD card does work.

I have been following this thread for a while as I have the same problems with SD card format and recognition by Fuse... I use a Mac and have formatted my 2G Patriot SD card as per the thread. I still can not get it to work with Fuse and saving Presets and Band tracks to the SD card.

I use a Mac and have followed all recommendations in the thread...

Can anyone help me to format and get the Patriot SC card (2G) to work???

Thanks,
-Bill-

Hey Billy,

Were you able to get your SD card issue sorted out?
